Book Blogger Confessions (#7)…

June 4th: Choosing your next book. How do you decide which book to read next? How do you balance “review” reading with “fun” reading?

How do you decide which book to read next? It really depends on several things. Do I have a book I need to read for a book blog tour, or review? What kind of mood I’m in…in the literary sense.

How do you balance “review” reading with “fun” reading? Luckily they can be the same thing. Two examples of this are Gabriel’s Rapture, and books 2 and 3 of the Fifty Shades trilogy. I loved the 1st books in both series, so I would’ve read the sequels regardless.

There are some upcoming books from new and favorite authors where this would apply as well. I’m really looking forward to the following, and I’d read them whether I was planning to review them or not.

Deb Harkness- Shadow of Night (Expected publication: July 10th)

Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond- The Winemakers Dinner (Expected Publication: July 31st)

C.L. Parker- Nexus (Expected Publication: September 27th)

Debra Anastasia- Bittersweet Seraphim (Expected Publication: Fall 2012)

I have my priority list on Goodreads. But audible books take precedence over kindle, which takes precedence over print only. That’s because my time to pick up a book to read is very limited.

I read the series.. but I have to tell you other books catch my eye.. I read them.. I have printed lists of the eries I am working six of them right now.. and then something like the Gabriel books come along.. So I will fit them into the read. I have sometimes two or three books open at once.. Because I get so into my books I am in their world.. there are times it ggets sso intense I have to step back.. I will take a break into another book for aa chapter or two.. I am lucky that I have a night job that allows me all the time in the world to read… So..I read ALOT…

My priority list is on my Kindle and on Goodreads but I move around my “to read” collections all the time depending on my mood. I find that when I really get into and feel a connection with a book, I will stick with it and read it with such enthusiasm till it is complete.

I read for fun and I read for knowledge. I try to combine both and read daily. Actually, I do read daily. If I get into a good book, I will put everything else aside and just read. I actually make reading a priority.

I love when the review book is something you love and would read regardless. That happens less and less these days for me.
I’ve pretty much eliminated all review books except for maybe 1-2 per month so I’m reading more for pleasure right now. I review if I have something to say – if not I don’t worry too much about it.

Hi Karen…I agree that it sometimes gets overwhelming when you have too many books that are in the “must read for review” pile.
Lately, I’ve been alternating unless it’s been a book that I wanted to read anyway.
      Thanks for stopping by!
