Which book is your security blanket?
Question of the Week: Do you have a ‘feel good’ read or author that you go to whenever you’re sick or feeling down?
Usually if I’m sick or feeling down I don’t want to read anything too complex, emotional, or long. That takes most of my favorite authors out of the picture.
What I usually turn to in those times are short stories, poetry, cookbooks, or magazines. Those are all things that I can read quickly and put down easily. They don’t demand much from my brain, and with the exception of some of the poetry I like they don’t demand much from my heart either.
How about you guys? What do you turn to when you’re not feeling your best emotionally or physically?

I cannot read anything too deep when I am feeling down or sick! But if I do pick something up I would need something very straight and to the point but very personal…..if that makes sense! I love books/or short articles that give my mind a chance to experience love and love making or wild crazy sex and let it then put it down and go to the thinking ……
It makes perfect sense!
When I am ill, I usually don’t read, I watch television. Forgive me. My security blanket is The Dick Van Dyke show.
My security blanket to read when I have the need is Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman or Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher.
I guess it depends on how ill I am…I watch so little TV, but yeah…if I’m in the bed sick I’ll watch a little
Swan Song by Robert McCammon. I also like the sy-fy show Eurika when I need a pick-me-up.
MOG! Huge hugs my friend!
I usually don’t read when I feel down. I listen to music or watch television. But I happen to read cookbooks in those moments, they kind of pick me up
