Review: The Redhead Revealed by Alice Clayton

The synopsis:

As their careers catch fire, Grace and Jack — everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed, funny, and feisty couple — find themselves on opposite coasts. Grace has landed in New York City, where she loves being onstage again, particularly because she’s playing a fabulous character in a musical written by her old college flame, Michael. Their rekindled friendship makes exploring the city that much more fun.

Wait, it’s just friendship, right?

Meanwhile, in L.A., Jack can scarcely keep up with the swirling throngs of women who track him everywhere he goes, the endless press appearances, and the ridiculous rules his manager, Holly, keeps concocting for him — all part of the buildup to the release of Time, his steamy new film.

Thank goodness for phone sex.

But even when their schedules allow them to connect, Grace and Jack must keep their relationship off the radar and away from paparazzi cameras. Sure, the sex is sensational, but can this duo survive swirling rumors, the demands of their chosen professions, Grace’s raging internal battles, and a whopping nine-year age difference?

Tick-tock, the clock is ticking. Isn’t it?

Alice Clayton brings the second installment of a tale told with her magical mix of humor and heat, so cuddle up under the sheets and flip on the Golden Girls. Grace and Jack are at it again.

My review: You know it’s funny when you discover a new author…well new to you anyways. Both of Alice Clayton’s books, The Unidentified Redhead, and The Redhead Revealed were published in 2010. After reading them I have to ask…Why the hell didn’t somebody tell me about how great they were sooner?!? Ok, ok…deep breaths…at least I finally found out for myself what a fabulous writer Alice is. She’s the kind of writer I adore. The kind that makes me wish she was cranking out books left and right. Because I want more.

Alice, do you hear me?!? More…I want more! I want more Jack and Grace, but I have no doubt that I’d love anything you wrote…

So…The Redhead Revealed…it continues where it left off with Grace moving to NYC for a musical play…and Jack? Well, Jack’s movie is about to come out so he’s busy doing actor type stuff…interviews, photo shoots, the usual press junk that actor’s endure. I love Jack and Grace, both individually and as a couple. I’m a little worried about this separation to be honest…worried because they’re still so new as a couple, worried because I know that long distance relationships are always difficult, worried because Grace for all her kick ass attitude has emotional junk that she stores away…confidence issues, age issues…

O…and the other thing that worries me?!?…Michael…yeah…that guy…the one that’s in NYC too. They had a thing back in college, and now they’ll be spending lots of time together because of the Musical that he wrote and Grace is starring in.

Grace is all kinds of sad when she leaves Jack…he’s not a happy camper either…well that makes three of us. They do manage lots of sexy phone conversations which I love, but I’m beyond thrilled when Jack is able to make it out for a visit. Even tho it’s fairly short it’s wonderfully satisfying to have them together again.

And then comes the premier for Jack’s movie…Grace is nervous…for one thing she’ll be meeting Jack’s father. They still aren’t supposed to be seen together…well, not as a couple anyway. Add some heavy drinking to Grace’s nervousness and what do you get? UH OH…OH NO, and Holy Crap!  All of Grace’s worst fears come out…all the junk she’s been repressing…and it’s a disaster of epic proportions.

I gotta tell ya…I was well and truly pissed, and sad, and pissed.  How could she? Alice…how could she?

This all takes place in the first half of the book.  My anxiety level is in overdrive during the next several chapters as things go from bad to worse for this couple…

For me? This couple belongs together, and thank heavens that Jack thinks so too, because he finally shows up in NYC at her opening night. The next day they have a private lunch and Jack calls bs on Grace’s foolishness. Jeez, could I adore him anymore? To Grace’s credit she has realized the huge mistake she’s made. She’s finally ready to face and deal with all of her issues. It’s about time Grace.

There are even more wonderful things to come…but you know me…I like you to read the book and discover the good stuff yourself. Do yourself a favor and read this series. As in the 1st book there’s lots of humor, romance, and the sexy. Alice writes all of it so well that I’m sure she’ll become a favorite author of yours too.

Alice…you did it again. Brilliant… Beautiful… Brilliant…

My rating for The Redhead Revealed by Alice Clayton…

I am SO PSYCHED to hear that she is planning a third book, and writing more in general!! *happy dance* I think I need to send you something via email Tamie. Alice was my go-to girl for fan fic and other books in general, but she is a fantastic writer all on her own. Watch for something special in your email box. :)

The Redhead series is on my list of top favorite books & Alice is on my list of top favorite authors. I couldn’t possibly love this series any more than I do. I keep telling all of my friends that they must read these books! If I could be any character from any book I’ve ever read, Gracie is my pick (move over Ana Steele Grey)! Every girl needs a Jack in her life! Laugh-out-loud hilarious, hot sexy fun, romance mixed with some drama, I mean what more could you ask of in a book?!
