FanFic Friday: Done and Done….Now Complete Fics

I thought I would let some of the fan fic readers out there who only read completed stories know, that a few of the amazing stories that I have featured in the past, are now completed. I love these stories enough to talk about them again, so let’s review shall we?

Savage’s Win Some, Lose Some, is an amazing AH story written in EPOV, that portrays probably her sweetest, most adorable Edward to date. She writes incredible EPOV stories mind you, but they tend to be on the darker side. This Edward is very different. If you recall in my review of this story, Edward has some OCD issues, and is left to kind of take care of himself, because of the death of his parents. His sister, Alice is in institutional care, but he has Emmett and Rosalie to check in on him. He’s a loner in school, because of his behavioral issues. Savage does an amazing and respectful job with this aspect of the story, that it makes me proud to recommend the story. Bella comes in to his life, as a friend at first, but she pushes him in ways that make him uncomfortable, but better, or maybe just more whole. I love how she handles him when they are alone and at school. This story made me laugh and cry at times, but Savage’s stories seem to do that to me every time I read one.

This next story is one that had been on hiatus for awhile. I first talked about this story actually on one of my guest posts on RAoR, back in the day. I loved the AU story Only Human by Amethyst Jackson. In this AU story, Bella is celebrating her birthday after marrying Edward, one month earlier. Under some unusual circumstances, when she blows out her birthday candles, she makes a wish that sends her back in time to Chicago, circa 1918. She wished that she could give Edward all of the human experiences, that he had given her, and I guess, her wish was granted. She immediately meets Edward and his parents, and is brought into their home. Edward is taken with her almost instantly, as you would probably guess, but is not sure why or where she came from. Bella tries to keep her distance from him, because she almost feels like she cheating on the Edward that she left in the future, by falling for this human Edward as well. It’s really interesting reading Bella’s reactions to Edward’s relationship with his parents and friends, as well the day-to-day aspects of living in that time period. We also get glimpses of Vampire Edward’s thoughts in the future that Bella left behind, how he deals with trying to figure out where Bella went, and how to get her back. The story takes a real emotional turn when Bella is there with Edward, watching his parents take ill with the Spanish flu. The story is very angsty and mysterious at times, and of course there’s the UST between the human Edward and Bella that compels the story along. The companion piece to this story, Anatomy of a Human was just completed recently, and is in EPOV. It’s a quick read, but it is really worth reading both stories. I’ve always been curious about Edward’s life before he was turned, and this story was perfect for experiencing that for me.

For those of you who love Georgey Girl’s stories The Weight of Words, and The Tongue Set Free, as much as I do, should know that she is writing a companion piece called The Swan Files. Without giving too much away if you haven’t finished reading Tongue Set Free, Edward has been writing in a journal on his first meetings and encounters with Bella, as her TA. His reasoning in the beginning is more for his own protection, because of the problems in his past with a student accusing him of sexual advances, while he was teaching in Oxford. His entries change when his relationship with Bella evolves into something more. I will always been completely and totally in love with this Edward. He is one of my personal favorites in fan fiction. GG really has an amazing gift for telling this tale through his eyes and thoughts. I love that she gave us this story. I was going through some serious withdrawals when Tongue Set Free was finished. Yes, I know I said that this post was about completed stories, but this story is an exception to all rules. *raspberry noise*

On a completely different note, last week I featured stories from Simone and Marie, The Beautiful Series (see post here). I apologize if I was unclear about the second story, Beautiful Enemy. That story has not been updated in quite awhile, but I was unaware of just how long it’s been. I did reach out to the beta of both stories, Troublefollows17, to see if she could shed some light on the status. I have not heard back from her yet, but when I do, I’ll let you know what is happening. I try not to feature stories that are “dead in the water”, because it’s not fair to start reading something that was recommended to you, only to be left hanging. Their first story, Beautiful Nightmare, can definitely be read on its own and is complete.

I am not sure how many of you are reading WIPs, but I still love hearing about what you are reading no matter what. Please, please share in the comments. I still have an active WIP list on fan fic.net, that definitely has room for more good stories. Sharing is caring here at BT.

I didn’t know Anatomy of a Human completed. Yay! I loved Only Human and I love EPOV. I’m excited!
I just started In the Debris. There’s a lot of buzz about it. It’s WIP, 28 chapters so far. The chapters are long so I’m taking my time with it. I guess you would call it angst but nothing too bad so far. I’m on ch 12.

Thanks chica! This looks like a Victoria and James story as well. I’ve not read many stories with them, being the main characters. A May to December Romance is the only one I can think of, right now. Added it to my list.

Yes it is, V&J are from the wrong side of the tracks so to speak but they’re not bad. They’re all kind of friends.

I have a completed rec! Our very own sweet Annie wrote a sweet, sexy short fic. :) Sad Isabella meets yummy/swoony Eduardo while on a tropical getaway. Oh Eduardo. Read it. Do it. Now. (I was talking like Eric Packer there)

Thanks for keeping us updated about Beautiful Enemy. It didn’t leave off in an absolutely horrible place (we were at least given proof Bella was telling the truth – well about that one thing anyway), but it would be nice to know if it will ever complete.

    Cheers!

I do only read complete fics, so thanks for the heads up on these complete fics Katie! I love Savage’s writing so I look forward to reading ‘Win Some Lose Some’ now.

‘Only Human’ is a fantastic story. I didn’t know she had written a companion piece. I’ll definitely check it out.

I’ve heard about the ‘Swan Files’. I understand it’s written from Edward’s POV through his journal entries, but is it a continuation of tTSF? Is it the same story but with more emphasis on Edward’s thoughts & feelings? Just curious. Either way I’d like to spend more time in Edward’s head. O.o

I’ve bookmarked ‘My Beautiful Nightmare’. Perhaps by the time I read it she will have complete the sequel…. *hopeful*

I’m reading a canon twific called “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Cryabear. It’s accurate in the parts it should be yet so different from the original. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6460691/1/For-Whom-The-Bell-Tolls

    Happy Reading! :)

So The Swan Files is Edward’s thoughts from the first time they meet, in a journal format. In TTSF, he gives Bella a zip file of the entries for her to read while she is in England with family, before Rose’s wedding. It’s important to have read both stories before starting this story, or it won’t make as much sense. I love being in this Edward’s head too. *happy sigh*

I’ve read Cryabear’s story, and loved it. I featured it here actually. :)

May I ask an opinion here? What are thoughts on an author recc’ing his or her own fic? Is that a faux pas?

Some people seem to not mind and some are rude about it.

Or maybe rec’ing is too strong. Even telling ppl that you wrote something. Is that wrong?

    • Trayce (@lemonamour) says:

I never mind a bit of self-promotion myself, but I’m not a writer only a rabid reader; which means I’m always happy to hear about new stories/fics. To me it’s irrelevant where the rec’d comes from, since they have to actually be good if they want me to keep reading. But you’ve no need to worry, Shari my sweet girl, you know if you need anything pimped out I will shamelessly plaster your name across the web. ;-)

      Cheers! xx

      • ChocoMG2112 says:

Ah Trayce, you are a love. Thank you. It is just I had a couple of things said to me recently that gave me pause. Made me wonder, “maybe that’s why…” Or had I been placed on double secret probation or something by the powers that be.

If you wish to pimp my works, I won’t stop you. Lol
