18 and Over Book Blogger Follow…Music for your Muse…

18 and Over is hosted by Reading Between the Wines

Happy Sunday all, and thanks for stopping by.

Today’s topic is music…as a muse…

Question of the Week: Do you listen to music while writing reviews or do you need quiet?

I rarely listen to music OR have the TV on when I’m writing a review. I don’t really like the distraction when I’m trying to focus on putting words together to form coherent sentences, and trying to keep my punctuation and grammar from being outrageously bad. I also like to say word combinations out loud, so the quiet is more conducive to that as well.

Occasionally, I do break out my CD’s and crank up the volume to help me get into the mood of the book that I’m reviewing. Once I get into the mind-set I’m looking for I turn it off, and start writing.

Ok peeps…if you don’t write reviews on Goodreads or Amazon…and if not… why don’t you? It helps the authors and books you love…do you listen to music while you read?

I listen to music while I write, but not reviews.

My prime choices are AFI, Evanescence, David Gilmour and Sting.

random while i read, because it fades into the background and seldom distracts me. while i write, i continually change until it meshes with the scene/feeling of what i/m writing. i have play lists i build for certain types of scenes and i constantly add to them. the radio feature on itunes helps keep the expense down, especally for zydeco music and classic rock. luckily i have the complete cd collection of wicked tinkers for when saddness and warrior music is needed.
they didn’t work too well on a gun battle scene in hawaii, though. inna goodda da vedia did
