Elena reviews : Wicked Burn by Beth Kery

The Synopsis :

He wanted all of her…

Vic Savian knows what he wants when he sees it. And what he wants is his sexy neighbor, Niall Chandler. When he finds her in the hallway of their building being harassed by an aggressive suitor, Vic steps in—and finds himself greatly rewarded…

And did she ever let him have it…

Sleeping with her gorgeous neighbor—when she didn’t even know his last name—was the craziest thing Niall’s ever done. Now, she can’t seem to get enough of Vic, or what he stirs in her. Suddenly she’s exploring uninhibited pleasures she’s never known before. But when her past returns to haunt her, she and Vic are forced to venture beyond the pleasures of the flesh, and risk it all on something deeper, something found only in the heart.

My review:

Wicked Burn tickled my curiosity a while back on Goodreads and last week I finally decided to download it on my kindle. It’s a good read, a novel that, despite it not being necessarily a favorite of mine, I enjoyed. It delivers a good story line and keeps you on the edge of your seat in several scenes.

Beth Kerry created compelling characters that make the book worth reading. Most of the times the characters are the factor  that either make or break the story for me and Vic and Niall kept me interested throughout.

The story begins with a very steamy encounter between Niall and Vic. They’re neighbors who find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other, despite the fact that they know almost nothing ( except their names) of one another. Vic can’t resist Niall’s beauty and Niall is instantly ensnared by Vic’s charm. His touch makes her feel alive for the first time after years and she wants to drink in that feeling as much as possible. Vic can’t seem to get enough of her, but at the same time he’s wary – he thinks she’ll first make him fall in love with her and then hurt him, like his ex fiancée did. But their passionate nights continue and soon true feelings of affection and love begin to stir their hearts. But… there are some painful secrets that begin to emerge and that will test their attachment…

Vic has all the right attributes of the great Alpha Male. I definitely get why Niall couldn’t get him out of her mind. I admit at the beginning he seemed arrogant, only willing to satisfy his needs, but I was proven wrong on my judgement of him. He’s a man capable of loving a woman from the depth of his heart. Yes, some of his reactions somewhat frustrated me at times( like his mood swings) but I got where he was coming from. His broken heart makes him not trust easily and when he does, it unsettles him. The love he develops for Niall brings that about but he takes the risk.

Niall is kind, sweet and a woman who wants to forget a painful secret she keeps locked inside her. She is an easy character to like and to sympathize with. I confess tears ensued in some scenes, especially when her secret is revealed…

The passion between the two characters is scorching hot and the story has the right amount of  angst and romance. This falls under the category of erotica, so the sex scenes are very explicit ( there is some BDSM involved but not too hardcore).

Overall this is an enjoyable read about a passionate love affair, life experiences and threatening secrets that can appeal to readers who like erotica novels with a twist or two…

My rating for Wicked Burn : a solid 3 stars.

I read this a while back and I also enjoyed it. I liked the characters and cared what happened to them.

I know this is a bit off topic but have you heard of Beth Kerry’s book series Because You Are Mine? I keep seeing the books coming up on Kobo. I’m wondering if anyone else has read them.

Exactly. They are rather short and they look good. Looking forward to reading them :)
