Remember the days before e-readers were invented? Yeah…me too, which is why I thought today’s topic was such a good one…
Do you bring the book(s) you’re reading with you when you go out? How? Physically, or in an e-reader of some kind?
If I leave the house my Kindle goes with me, and since I also have the Kindle app on my phone I’m Kindled x 2. If I’m reading a print book at the time, it’s going out the door with me as well. It doesn’t matter if I’m just planning on the grocery store, or some other errand, because you just never know…maybe all the checkout lines will be long…perfect time to read. And everybody has one of those stop lights that just lasts forever right?!? It’s the perfect time to whip out the Kindle or pb instead of getting all stressed out. Waiting for the movie to start?!? Why not be reading instead of staring at your watch for the millionth time. O yeah…you will never catch me out and about without a book in some fashion. Nope…just never gonna happen.
Have your habits in this regard changed?
Yes and no…Before I got my Kindle and my smart phone (that isn’t always) I still took whatever print book I was reading with me. That’s a habit I acquired when I was a child, and never broke it. It’s easier now when traveling somewhere, more convenient and a whole lot less weight to take the Kindle. I do appreciate the technology even tho I still like print books better.

You know that old saying, “Don’t leave home without it.” That’s me & my Kindle, my Kindle & me, we’re always together, wherever we may be (Isn’t there a song like that or something?)! However, when reading an actual book, it stays on my night table because I’ll only usually read the book before bedtime. But my Kindle (& smart phone Kindle app) is always with me wherever I go! We’re having a love affair, but don’t tell my husband!

My iPad is basically attached to me at all times. I commute to work via train, so I get to read for at least 30 minutes each way. Even if I’m running errands, I still always bring my iPad, because like you, you just never know when you’ll being stuck waiting somewhere.
If I’m reading a physical book, I don’t normally take it on daily trips, for fear of leaving it somewhere. I do like to travel with books though. My last vacation, I took a couple of books with me, and my ipad. There was a period, back in 2009, when I would travel with my Twilight books everywhere. LOL
I obsessively have my book (or iPhone w/Kindle app) with me at all times – even carrying it from room to room in my house. And, any time I hop in the car, it goes with me as well. I thought I was a bit crazy, so glad to know I am not alone!
