Do Book Blogs Matter? (Part 2) With Thoughts from E.L. James, Jodi Ellen Malpas, and Enn Bocci

A few more thoughts from me on why book blogs matter, and then I’ll share the thoughts from two more of my favorite authors, E.L. James and Jodi Ellen Malpas, and from publicist, Enn Bocci.

Before I entered the book blogging world I spent a lot of time in book stores…looking at covers…reading the synopsis, and sometimes I’d pick books that rocked my world based on word of mouth through friends and/or family. Many times though I’d buy books and kind of feel like I’d wasted my money. This happens a lot less now that I look to other book bloggers who have the same tastes as I do in books. It’s not a 100% guarantee that because they loved it…that I will too, but I definitely read more books that I end up loving than am disappointed by. Reading is subjective, personal, and intimate really. We all bring different emotions and perspectives to the experience of reading a story… in part because we are as unique and individual as the books themselves.

Will all of you love every book that I think is a must read?!? Nope, but my goal is to provide you with honest, meaningful reviews and other posts that will inspire you to try books that you might not know about otherwise. That’s the common goal that we all have here on Bookish Temptations. Reading is important to us…it’s a passion we want to share with you, and when it comes down to it…that’s why I think book blogs matter.

Here’s what E.L. James, Jodi Ellen Malpas, and Enn Bocci shared on the subject…

Do Book Blogs Matter? (part 1) With Thoughts and a Signed Giveaway from Sylvain Reynard

Recently, I read something online…a discussion about whether book blogs make a difference…whether or not they matter. I wish I would’ve book marked it because of course I can’t find it now. In the article it stated that after word of mouth from family and friends…book bloggers have the next biggest impact as far as bringing authors and readers together. Anyways…it got me to thinking about it, and when that happens I need an outlet. Fortunately, I have Bookish Temptations which provides  a place to share my passion for reading, to spotlight the amazing talents of the authors who write them, and occasionally I write about topics that mean something to me. This would be one of those.

I’m incredibly fortunate that one of my most favorite authors, Sylvain Reynard, agreed to express his thoughts on the subject… AND… he’s also allowing me to offer a signed copy of Gabriel’s Inferno. I’ll share that with you a little later on.

Tamie and Elena: Favorite Posts of 2012

Elena and I thought it would be fun to look back at the posts we published in 2012 and share our favorites with you. We’ve divided them into two categories… guest posts and those we wrote or participated in ourselves.

We decided not to try and put them in any kind of order and we didn’t limit ourselves to a specific number…so here we go…

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

Hey peeps!

I hope you enjoyed this past week of author guest posts and giveaways as much as we did. I’ve said this before, but I think you’ll forgive me if I say it again…

Authors are to me what movie/rock stars are to others. It’s hard for me to even begin to express my appreciation to the writers that share their gifts with words and storytelling. If someone…a fairy godmother let’s say, were to give me the choice of who I’d most like to meet?!? I’d be hard pressed not to choose my favorite authors…ok, ok with the possible exceptions of Rob Pattinson and David Gandy. I am after all a living, breathing woman who appreciates the beauty of  hot guys. Rawr!

Mkay, getting back on track… Continue reading
