FanFic Friday: Debb and Annie have a Free For All from *gasp* other fandoms!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Katie is taking a wee break while she recovers from her move so Annie and I have teamed back up this week for a special Free For All Fan Fic Friday (say it, out loud, five times fast). We hope you’ll indulge us as we go a little off the beaten path. And by off the beaten path, we mean *looks around, whispers* not Twi fic.

I know, right? Don’t worry, we’ve both included a Twi choice for those of you with “hard limits”.

Don’t get us wrong, we still love Twi fan fic. It’s just that, every once in a while, we read a lil sumpin sumpin else. At first we were all “feel dirty about it, feels like it’s wrong” but after a few false starts (erm, I’m scarred by a Tony Stark fic) we were sharing some quality fic from other fandoms. Hence, the Free For All. Annie and I are just going to lay it all out there so you can judge us. ;)

FanFic Friday: Katie shares her 2012 Top Ten!!

Hi all! It’s that time of year. Time to look back, reflect and remember, and then make plans for the next year. It’s been a great year for fan fiction; great new stories, new authors to discover, contests and favourite fic writers making the transition to the publishing world. Katie, Annie, Gina and I wanted to share our favourite complete stories and started emailing lists back and forth. Guess what? We need two posts! There was no narrowing down our absolute favourites so, up first, we have Katie with her top ten(ish) completed fics followed by WIP wishes for the new year – the fics she’s most looking forward to in the new year. I’ve added my two cents here and there. ;)

Katie is up, after the jump!

FanFic Friday: Something Different

I wanted to do something a little different this week with the post. I thought I would review a couple of stories I’ve
recommended in the past that are now complete, talk about what I am reading right now, and ask for audience participation if possible. How does that sound? Fun, right?

I love this new pic of Rob so much, I am thinking about changing my AVI.

FanFic Friday: Pushing the Boundaries

Hey there! Long time no see, right? Family obligations and a much-needed vacation kept me away. Even though I didn’t get to read as much as fan fic as I had hoped, I still missed talking about and sharing stories with everyone. So let’s get back to it…

FanFic Friday: Favorite AU Stories

Hi there!! I’m going through my nostalgic phase again, and I have a feeling it’s only going to get worse, as it gets closer to November. I am longing for the original Edward, the one I fell in love with. I mean when I finished reading the books the first time, I was definitely Team Edward, but when I found Midnight Sun, I was changed by his thoughts and emotions expressed there. I think it was that incomplete story that drew me to fan fiction. I needed, craved to learn more about Him. Edward Anthony Mason Cullen.

I am hoping that you guys will share some great EPOV stories that are “canon-like”. New ones are hard to find because I can bet most authors feel like it’s all been done, but prove me wrong. I will share my favorites, but only if you’ll show me yours. *giggle* No worries, I’ll go first.

FanFic Friday: Taking It Back

I’ve been hearing a lot of people saying they can’t quite read Twilight fan fic after the bombshell was dropped last week. Understandable. *hugs fandom* No matter how well we separate actors from their characters, it’s different when you read. You form pictures in your head and you have to open your emotions if you want to enjoy the story so that makes keeping reality out difficult.

I’ve thrown a few stories together that might help you ease back into the swing of fan fiction. Hopefully one of them will fit your needs. Hang in there. Keep trying. Help each other. Take it back.

FanFic Friday with Katiebird: Quality Over Quantity

So last week, someone said something in the comments, that made me think about some of my favorite fan fic authors. The comment was, “These authors consistently give us well-written and entertaining stories.” Most of the authors that I’ve featured, have loads stories on their profile, but there are a few amazing authors that don’t. Sometimes it’s about quality more than quantity.

I was contacted and asked if I would help spread the word on a fandom event to help raise awareness of depression and suicide. It was an easy decision to say yes.

Stephanie (@twilightbyus) and Alex (@valleyofurheart) have a website which you can visit to get more details:
http://fandom4suicideawareness.blogspot.com/

They are holding a fandom event to raise money for suicide and depression awareness. With a $5 donation readers will get an exclusive fanfic compilation. All proceeds will be donated to the charity “To Write Love On Her Arms.”

I hope you’ll check it out.

FanFic Friday: Half Year Milestone

It dawned on me last week that we have reached the HALFWAY mark of this year. OMG, where has the time gone?!?! Honestly, I’ve read some really great stories in the past six months, so I thought that it would be good to look back and pick out our favorites so far. I put out the email to our FanFic connoisseurs here at Bookish Temptations, and let them have at it. Much to my surprise, everyone, as in EVERYONE, on the team wanted to participate. J *happy dance*
