Do Book Blogs Matter? (Part 2) With Thoughts from E.L. James, Jodi Ellen Malpas, and Enn Bocci

A few more thoughts from me on why book blogs matter, and then I’ll share the thoughts from two more of my favorite authors, E.L. James and Jodi Ellen Malpas, and from publicist, Enn Bocci.

Before I entered the book blogging world I spent a lot of time in book stores…looking at covers…reading the synopsis, and sometimes I’d pick books that rocked my world based on word of mouth through friends and/or family. Many times though I’d buy books and kind of feel like I’d wasted my money. This happens a lot less now that I look to other book bloggers who have the same tastes as I do in books. It’s not a 100% guarantee that because they loved it…that I will too, but I definitely read more books that I end up loving than am disappointed by. Reading is subjective, personal, and intimate really. We all bring different emotions and perspectives to the experience of reading a story… in part because we are as unique and individual as the books themselves.

Will all of you love every book that I think is a must read?!? Nope, but my goal is to provide you with honest, meaningful reviews and other posts that will inspire you to try books that you might not know about otherwise. That’s the common goal that we all have here on Bookish Temptations. Reading is important to us…it’s a passion we want to share with you, and when it comes down to it…that’s why I think book blogs matter.

Here’s what E.L. James, Jodi Ellen Malpas, and Enn Bocci shared on the subject…

Tamie and Elena Discuss: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover (Pages 1-66)

Squeeeee…it’s finally time to discuss a favorite book for both Elena and I.

When I read Hopeless it rocked my world in a literary way. I loved it so much that I immediately reread it. That’s not something I do a whole lot…that should tell you just how good I thought it was…wait…did I say good?!? I meant fanfuckingtastic. Seriously, Elena fell in love with it as well, and we both agreed we wanted to feature it as one of our book club discussions.

The only reason we waited so long was because I wanted to have the print copy in my hands to do it…and now I have it.

Lets begin…

Mags interviews Darwin Blake: International Poet of Mystery

Ladies (and gentlemen) we’ve all been swooning over this mans words for some time now, so it was with great excitement that I accepted the challenge of interviewing Mr Darwin Blake.

According to Darwin’s bio he is tall, dark (greying a little, just makes him sexier), has dark eyes, a cheeky smile, is muscular & apparently has a voice like molten chocolate.  I hope my questions might help us to get to know him a little better, so here goes.

Book Club Schedule: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Elena and I are both anxious to begin our discussions of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. We both agree it’s one of the best books we’ve ever read, so we hope you’ll join in during our Saturday discussions.

Here’s the schedule of reading…O…and don’t forget that the paperback edition comes out on May 7th…SQUEEEEEEE. I have mine pre-ordered and I can’t wait to hold it in my hands!

For Love of Books and Music…

piano 2

Music is a very important part of my life. I practically live with my ipod attached at the hip, and panic attacks ensue when I happen to forget my ipod at home.. So when two of my passions, music and books unite? That’s my little piece of heaven right there.

Weddings in books…Thoughts?

wedding

I’ve said before that yes, I’m that kind of girl who gets all sappy and teary-eyed during weddings. I just can’t help it. The beauty of the ceremony, the couple declaring their love in front of God….It all makes the tears come (thank God for waterproof mascara! ;) ).

So personally, I love reading about fictional couples tying the knot, especially when the lovers have been through hell to be together. Not that I like seeing them suffer, mind you (actually, I’m kind of a wuss when it comes to angst, but this is for another post ;) ). But weddings seem like the perfect way to show the world how much two characters love each other.
