Curious as a Cat…

This Monday meme comes from Curious as a Cat

Here are the questions:

1) Share your latest book recommendation.

2) What travel lessons have you learned the hard way?

3) What’s the best bumper sticker you’ve ever seen?

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Coming Up This Week…

What a great week we just had here on Bookish Temptations.

I know y’all had as good a time as I did, so let’s keep it rolling…

Bookish Temptations and Omnific Publishing Present…

Is it Sunday already?!?

This week just flew by for me…so I guess the old adage about time flying when you’re having fun isn’t just a cliche after all, eh?

I wanted to share a few things with you first and then I have a major announcement for you. I know, I know…I’m being a tease 😉

Bookish had some major milestones occur this past week. First, we went over the 50k mark on site visits Wednesday. Lemme tell you that I got a little emo over that. When I started BT in October I had no idea how it would do in the book blogging world, but thanks to the fabulous team here who work so hard to bring you new and fun things every week we continue to grow and flourish. No thanks will ever be enough to Debb, Gina, Elena, Morgan, and Annie for all you do.

Also, I have to thank the authors who have been so generous in providing guest posts, interviews, giveaways, etc.  It really is a wonder you don’t run away when you see me coming. Special thanks to Sylvain Reynard, Debra Anastasia, and CL Parker who have said yes over and over. I ❤ u my friends!

Second, SR’s outtake on Wednesday helped bring about the most visits ever in one day. I knew in advance it would be huge, BUT…it went beyond that…way beyond that. Thank you all for visiting and for sharing through RT’s on twitter, facebook, pininterest, google+, etc. Mad love to all!

Now…I have a major announcement to share with you that you’re going to love…Ready?!?

Sexy Sentence Saturday…Gabriel’s Inferno (#3)

Happy Saturday all!

It’s been a fun week with lots of stuff involving one of my favorite authors, Sylvain Reynard, and his fabulous book Gabriel’s Inferno. Judging from the huge response I can safely say that you were as excited about the outtake to his upcoming sequel as me.

Thanks to all who left comments. It’s the most commented on post ever, and I’m so appreciative whenever someone takes the time to leave one. Hugs to you all! At one point I was having trouble keeping up with the comments that needed approval, and for those of you who don’t know let me explain. Whenever someone new leaves a comment it automatically goes into moderation and requires approval which I try and do as soon as possible, so thanks for your patience.

Normally, I reply to all or many of the comments, but this time I just wanted to savor them for a bit. I’ll be responding to them starting today 🙂

Ok…time to let you go read what you came here for…

Fanfic Friday: ‘My Wounded Soldier’ and ‘Waterloo’

Happy Friday.  Annie and I have lots to share and *gasp* my recc this week is AH. Let’s get to it.

This first story is being pimped everywhere – and rightfully so. It’s that rare fic; completely unique, brilliantly written, utterly compelling and updating frequently, sometimes multiple times a day. I pause the world when I get notifications and spend a few minutes with Soldierward. *sigh* (note: no banner available but the author has said this is what Soldier looks like to her)

My Wounded Soldier by counselor

1866 Edward just home from the war. Neighbor Bella has a tragedy and Edward delivers her baby. Seeing as she’s widowed, marriage makes sense. He doesn’t feel worthy, but he can’t step aside for her suitors. Competition amongst veterans.

Lots more fic chat, after the jump!

Outtake from Gabriel’s Rapture…by Sylvain Reynard

OMG! Can you believe how close we are to finally getting the sequel to Gabriel’s Inferno?!? Me neither…I keep looking at my calendar and it keeps telling me it’s still April…no matter how many times a day I look at it. What’s up with that?

I’ve been patiently waiting…um…ok…not so patiently waiting…(truth be told) to see an email from SR that would contain the outtake that he so graciously said yes to providing Bookish with. Every time my phone would alert me to a new email my heart would start beating just a little bit faster until…nope not it…sigh…I tried really, really hard not to mention it tooooo often coughweeklycough or come across as tooooooo emotional coughPUHLEEEEZESRUrKillingMecough….

Seriously tho, when I got the email Monday night marked “Outtake from Sequel to Gabriel’s Inferno” you know what I did? Nope…I didn’t open it right that nanosecond…I got up from my chair…walked out of my room…went out on my balcony…and took a bunch of deep breaths. THEN…I ran back in and opened it up and read it…and it was so good I cried….really. I was just so happy to be reading SR’s beautiful writing  that I was simply overcome with emotion, and you know what else? It’s effing HAWT too.

I know, I know…I’ve kept you from it long enuff…so make the jump and prepare to do some *Hard Thudding*

(passes out the giant fans and steps back from the stampede) 😉

Review: Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope and redemption.

When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love and redemption, “Gabriel’s Inferno” is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man’s escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible…forgiveness and love.

NB: This book was a semi-finalist for Best Romance in the 2011 Goodreads Choice Awards.

Where to begin to express my love for this book? Every time I sit down to write a review about it, I feel like there aren’t enough words to describe its beauty. I  read it in April 2011, when it came out, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it ever since. I fell in love with it and it’s now one of my favorite books of all time. It’s one of the very few stories I’ve given a 5 star rating because  to me this book is perfection.

Sylvain Reynard is one of the most talented authors out there, he enthralls you with his writing in such a way that you won’t want to put the book down.

Tamie takes U on the Gabriel’s Inferno Tour…

On my recent trip to Toronto one of the things on my itinerary was to visit some of the places in Gabriel’s Inferno. A GI tour if you will. I’m happy to say that I did just that and had a lot of fun. Sadly, not all of the places in the book still exist, but there are enough of them to keep a certified GI fan happy and busily exploring for a full day. To be honest it would be better to undertake the tour over a couple of days if you’re like me and want to really explore the different places in detail and not just as a quick stop to say…been there…seen it.

I started my day at Union Station as I was traveling in from Whitby on the GO train. Thank heavens the majority of the places I wanted to visit are all very centrally located and are easy to reach by subway and walking. I encourage you all to wear comfortable shoes when you do your own tour…even tho I was sorely tempted to wear a pair of heels…you know…in case I just happened to bump into the Professor.

I don’t know about you but I’m a planner when it comes to stuff like this so I invested in a really nice map…the kind that’s laminated so I could lay out my destinations. It also becomes a souvenir after, so for me it’s worth it. After I googled the places I most wanted to go I then found them on my map and Sharpied them in circles…hey I’m a clever gurl huh?!?
