Mother’s Day Book Recommendations

First, let me wish all of the mom’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day.

Being the mother of three children myself… I know it’s not an easy thing these days to do all that you want or need to in regards to your children. There are a lot of demands placed on you from other sources…jobs, husbands/boyfriends, parents…the list sometimes seems endless. I hope for at least today that you have the chance to relax and be taken care of…at least for a little while.

Second, if you happen to be one of those that just realized it’s that special day for your mom…Oops…don’t panic…there’s still time to do something nice. I’ve always loved receiving a book(s), or a gift card for a book(s) on any special occassion. It’s quick and easy for the giver and always fits perfectly… Amazon for Kindle or Barnes and Noble for Nook are open 24 hours a day and you don’t need to spend a lot of money to make mom smile and feel special.

BTW…unless mom specifically requests some sort of small appliance…not recommended 😉

Here’s some specific book recommendations from me…

A fun and fairly quick read… this book has lots of humor, romance, and organised crime. I loved the main characters as well as several of the secondary characters. There are some sexual scenes, and some violence as well, but I found it to be a story that made me smile a lot.

Poughkeepsie is a very different kind of love story, and one that really spoke to my heart, as did all the characters in it. Romantic and endearing, spicy and sometimes profane with danger and goodness thrown into the mix. I found this book to be a very special treat indeed.

I absolutely adored this book, and I’ve read it twice…so far. Vampires, witches, and daemons are the main characters, but told in a very unique and fresh way. Romance and magic, history and suspense are combined to keep your interest level high until the very last page.

The Fifty trilogy has captured lots of attention in the past few months, and it certainly captivated me when I read it last summer. Everybody likes to talk about the sex…which is unbelieveably good…BUT the love story within was what I loved the best. Tragedy, self-awareness and growth of character drew me in, and the power of love shines in this series.

No list of recommendations from me would be complete without my favorite book of 2011. Romance, sin, forgiveness, and secrets combined with an extremely seductive Professor make this a book  that I have read over and over again. It’s a fabulous love story with just the right amount of angst, UST, and fulfillment. It’s also beautifully written.

All of these would make great presents for mom, or for anybody that’s special in your life.

I wish you all love 🙂

  2. Omg, i have been trying to come up with the right words to describe what i love about the 50 books. I get so much shit about “how can i read that”. I keep telling everyone its not about the sex. Its the story behind the sex. You just hit the nail on the head for me. Ive been a fan of 50 since the beginning. So, thank you for that and i hope you are having a wonderful mothers day.
