Book Blogger Confessions (#8)…

Book Blogger Confessions is a biweekly meme hosted by  Tiger’s All Consuming Media or For What It’s Worth

June 18th: We have created a blogging time machine! Pretend you can start over. Knowing what you know now about blogging – what do you wish you did differently when it comes to creating your blog?

WoW! What a great question…Where to start?!?

1st- I would’ve taken more time into deciding on the theme (format) I chose on WordPress. There are things I love about the one we use, but there are some limitations that I’m not fond of. Next week I’ll be enjoying a 4 day weekend, and I just might take the time to look over some new themes.

2nd- I was in such a hurry to get up and running that I didn’t plan and organize very well at all. I struggled a lot the first couple of months, so if I had a do over I would definitely rectify that.

3rd- I would have asked the people on my team to join me much sooner. Actually, I would’ve asked them to join me at the very beginning. They’re all such gifted and wonderful people who have made Bookish what it is today.

4th- I wish I had known about memes much sooner than I did. I find them to be great fun, and so do a lot of our followers.

I think those are really the key points for me. Hindsight really is 20/20 😉

Dumb question of the day: What is a meme?

Definition of a meme- an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture.
Book Blogger Confessions is a blog meme, as is Curious As a Cat, and Wordless Wednesday 🙂

I’ve been wondering what a meme is too…

  3. I think every website holder can relate to this one. Personally I’m far from patient. I usually do things and think about them later. Great post, Tamie!

The one good thing I did was take my time setting up my blog (not design wise – it was a hideous basic blogger template with birds lol) but I had the blog for about 6 months before I went public, just playing around with what I wanted it to be.
I do wish I had a partner though.

  5. those are all good things and I just changed my family blog into more book blogging. Yes I wish I had done more research too.

Yes, I wish I had discovered memes and blog hops earlier too – although I would caution moderation to any readers…some blogs appear to be nothing but meme and blog hop entries!
