How many times have we watched and re-watched kissing scenes in movies? Several of them have become iconic and still make us feel butterflies in the stomach. For a kissing scene to be good, we must see the chemistry between the actors otherwise the result is kind of awkward…
Same goes with kissing scenes in books. How many times have we happy sighed while reading a kissing scene? A lot, I guess 😉 The kisses can be sweet, tender, feral, passionate… If a kissing scene is a well written one, it makes us feel the chemistry between the two characters, the love they have for one another, the passion that fuels…
Today I thought to share some of my favorite kissing scenes in novels that I love and I highly recommend :
Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard
” She tugged Gabriel closer, her tentative hands tangling in his hair, pulling him until she was sandwiched tightly between him and the door, her petite frame pressed up against his tall, muscular one. Gabriel moved his right hand to cup the back of her head, protecting it with his knuckles while he groaned loudly against her mouth.
He groaned because of me.
The groan was loud, feral and erotic. Julia would remember that sound and the way it vibrated against her lips, echoing into her mouth, for the rest of her life. She felt the blood course through her, hot and thick, as her skin bloomed under his touch. She had never wanted anything more than to feel his arms around her and his lips against hers.
There was no Paul. No Christa. No university. Just them.
Gabriel’s lips enveloped her, owned her. A fire ignited inside as their bodies moved together, soft curves against unyielding steel. Julia inhaled frantically, but it wasn’t enough. Her head grew light.
Gabriel swore he could feel her heartbeat through his shirt they were so tightly bound together. His left hand trailed under the hem of her blouse to inch toward the bare skin of her lower back. He moaned again as his fingers spread across that valley, claiming it. He didn’t need to see it to know that it was beautiful and precious.”
” He kissed her firmly, begging her silently to open for him. Their tongues moved together slowly. He was unhurried. It was just the two of them in an almost empty museum. He kissed her lips and her cheeks, walking her to a corner of the room, hesitantly backing her toward the wall.
His eyes were wary. ‘Is this all right?’
She nodded, breathlessly.
‘If you want to stop, just tell me. I won’t let things go too far…but I need you.’
She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him in.
He pressed her gently against the wall, molding his body tightly to hers. Every muscle, every plane of his was met by corresponding curves and softness. His hands traveled down her sides and to her hips, hesitating. She pressed herself more tightly to him in response. And all this time, their tongues and lips explored, never satisfied. His long, thin fingers slid to her back and down so that they were cupping her two rounded, delicious curves. He squeezed tentatively, and smiled against her mouth when she moaned.
‘You’re perfect. Every part of you. But this…’ He squeezed her again and began kissing her with renewed vigor. “
Gabriel’s Rapture by Sylvain Reynard
” ‘Please,’ she whispered, straining on tiptoe to place tiny kisses across his neck as she tugged on his tie once again.
He groaned. ‘Don’t tempt me.’
‘I promise I’ll be gentle.’
Gabriel laughed gruffly. ‘This is a stunning reversal.’
‘We’ve waited a respectable amount of time. I love you. And I want you.’
‘Do you trust me?’
‘Yes,’ she said breathlessly.
‘Then marry me.’
He cut her off with his kiss, pulling her against his chest. Somehow his hands were in her hair, clutching her tightly. And then as he gently slid his hands to caress her naked shoulders, he tentatively pressed into her mouth.
Julia released his bow tie to wrap her arms around his neck, tugging him until their bodies were flush against one another. She nibbled his full lower lip and moaned as his tongue slowly traced the curve of her mouth.
Suddenly, his fingers were touching her collar bones and moving to her back, gliding across the surface of her skin as it began to flush and heat.
‘Let me do things the right way,’ he pleaded, his hands cupping her face.
‘How could this be wrong?’ she whispered back, eyes dark and desperate. He kissed her again, and this time she shamelessly wound her right leg around his hip, trying to recreate their tango against a wall from the Royal Ontario Museum.”
Easy by Tammara Webber
“I wanted him so badly my head swam. ‘I–I would bite you.’
‘Oh, God,’ he breathed, his eyes closing. ‘ Why does it sound so good?’
I leaned in and up, as close as I could get, but his lips were still out of reach, and my arms–trapped behind me–couldn’t stretch to pull him down. ‘Kiss me and find out.’
His lips were warm. He kissed me carefully, nibbling and sucking my lower lip. Drawing the tip of my tongue along the inner edge of his mouth, I swept it over the slim ring, lightly, and he groaned and pulled me in so tight I could barely breathe. My hands were suddenly freed and he grasped my hips, lifting me onto the counter so that our angles were reversed.
Thrusting my fingers into his hair, I pressed my tongue into his mouth, cautiously, tracing over the hard palate just behind his teeth while wrapping my arms and legs around him. He sucked my tongue into his mouth and I gasped. I’d never kissed anyone like that; I’d never been kissed like that. One hand at the back of my neck, directing me, the other balancing me on the edge of the counter, he coaxed me to do it again and when I did, he caressed my tongue with his own, grazing his teeth over the surface, biting it softly as I withdrew.”
Sempre by JM Darhower
” ‘Tesoro means treasure, but it’s kinda like sweetheart. So tesoro, treasure…which right now, you literally are.’
She blushed, looking away from him, and he took the opportunity to dip her backward. Yelping, she wrapped her arms around his neck and laughed when he pulled her back up.
Their noses rubbed together, and he froze abruptly when Haven cocked her head to the side and brushed her lips against his. He thought he imagined it at first, until he tasted the strawberry gloss from her lips. Haven pushed away from him, covering her mouth, and he was too stunned to do anything but stare. Haven backed up a few steps, and he grabbed her arm when he realized she was about to run. Swinging her to him, her hands fell from her mouth, and he pressed his lips to hers without another thought.
It was passionate and messy, seventeen years worth of kisses rolled into one stolen embrace. Haven kissed him back, her lips parting as they moved with his. Running her hand along the back of his head, she laced her fingers in the hair by his neck. She trembled. Whether it was from nerves or excitement, Carmine wasn’t sure.”
The Future of Our Past by Kahlen Aymes :
” —Ryan’s point of view–
‘What I do know, is that I’m not capable of fighting it anymore, and that no matter what happens, I will always want you in my life.’ I searched her face as uncertainty flashed across her beautiful features.
‘Ryan, do you promise me? Promise me,’ she begged as she leaned her forehead on mine. Her breath rushed over my face and I could literally taste how sweet she would be in her scent.
‘I promise.’ I lowered my mouth and ghosted it over hers. My heart was thumping in my chest so fast I thought it would explode. This was the moment I’d waited for, for over three and a half years. Her tongue came out to lick my upper lip and my breath left me in a rush, my body tightening in response.
I held her head with gentle hands as my mouth finally settled over hers. Our open mouths were soft and searching. It felt new and exciting, but also so right. Our lips knew exactly how to mirror each other and move in perfect unison. She sucked on my upper lip and then I sucked on her lower one. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven.
‘Julia, my God,’ I groaned against her mouth as I gathered her close to me and lay her down on the bed. I moved over her and kissed her again and again. The nearness of her, what I’d be dreaming of for so long was finally within reach, but I wanted to take it slow, to savor every touch. ‘Kissing you is every bit as incredible as I imagined it would be.'”
Paradise by Judith McNaught
” ‘ I know you want to kiss me back, I can feel it. Why not indulge the impulse,’ he invited her huskily. ‘I’m more than willing and completely available.’
To her horror, his teasing statements doused her anger and gave her simultaneous impulses to giggle and to do exactly what he suggested.
‘If I die in an accident on the way home tonight,’ he cajoled softly, his mouth sliding over her cheek toward her lips again,’think how guilty you’ll feel if you don’t.’
Pushed another step towards laughter, Meredith opened her mouth to say something flippant or, better yet, sarcastic, and the instant she did, his mouth captured hers. His hand clamped the back of her head, holding her mouth to his while his other arm angled down across her back, holding her hips tightly to his. And Meredith was lost. Locked to him from toe to head, possessed by his hands and mouth and tongue, she went down to ignominious defeat.”
