Shout Out: Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

This week’s Shout Out goes to Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

I’ve been on a real paranormal kick lately, and most of them have been YA or New Adult. I’ve been going back and forth from the PN to Adult reads, and have been really enjoying both. I think it kind of balances things out better when you vary what you read. It’s sure kept me busy in a great way.

I really enjoyed Sweet Evil. It’s the first book in a planned trilogy. I keep saying I’m not going to read anymore books that are part of an unfinished series, but then I find or am recommended one, and I just can’t seem to say no…I guess having self-control issues with series books isn’t the worst problem to have in the world tho 😉

Anyways…this book is angels and demons. Kaidan…be still my heart…and Anna meet…yup boy meets girl, and find out they have some things in common that Anna really never knew existed. They have an intense attraction, but guess what?!? They aren’t really allowed to be together. Well…damn. This book is a great set up for what I think will be another series that owns me.

This is a book I’m recommending to all who love paranormal and can take the slow burn of YA and angst. The second book, Sweet Peril, is due out in April 2013.
