Today’s genre topic asked “What Did We Miss?”
I think under the broadest of terms the answer would be none. But, today I’m going to talk about two sub-genres that fall under the umbrella of Fiction.
We’re primarily a romance blog, and if you want to further narrow it down, most would label us with the title of being a Contemporary Adult Romance blog. We do read, review and spotlight other types of books as well…
Katiebird and I both love paranormal books.
We have a special place in our hearts for the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer which is listed under various sub-genres such as romance, paranormal, fantasy, and others in the YA category. Since I would normally call a story that has vampires and werewolves (shapeshifters) in it a paranormal book? I’m including it.
Another author both Katiebird and I adore is Jennifer Armentrout. She is another YA author primarily and has 2 series out I’d highly recommend. Either The Lux series with Daemon and Katy, or the Covenant series featuring Aiden and Alexandria are both phenomenal and worth your time.
Want something more adult? My all time favorite would be The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. A few others that I loved would be The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward , The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, and the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton. There are many more that I love and have enjoyed, but those would be my top picks.
Another sub-genre that I used to read all the time were those books which fall under the mystery/thriller/suspense category.
A few of my favorite authors/series are: Allison Brennan, Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell, Lisa Gardner, James Patterson, and for a lighter touch there’s always Janet Evanovich. Those are just a few of many that have given me hours of reading pleasure.
When you step out of your normal genre what kind of books do you choose? Leave us some titles and authors.

I’m with you on the mystery/suspense category. I don’t really have a normal genre since I’ve always been pretty eclectic. I’ll read just about anything if it tweaks my attention. Books are such temptations.

Have you tried the Hitwoman series by J. B. Lynn? They are hilarious and are moving much more into chick-lit as the series progresses.

I love Janet Evanovich ( Stephanie Plum series ) !! My first love and what got me into the love of reading !!! From there I went to erotic romance ( fifty shades ) . But sometimes I step out of the box with a romantic mystery . But I have noticed cops seem to be into some BDSM !!! So far that’s as far as I have stepped out of my box. I am a fairly new reader !!! Only been at it for about 2-3 years !!!! I am sure in time my interest will broaden . So just for now I will stick with my happy endings ( in more way’s then one !!! hehehehe)
