In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts.
In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.
Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…
Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs
Losing Hope – Holder and Sky’s story told from Holder’s point of view – surpassed all my expectations. If you’ve read and loved Hopeless, then Losing Hope is an absolute MUST read.
I have no words to describe how amazing a book it is. With Losing Hope it feels like every single piece of the puzzle falls into place. When I finished Hopeless, I had still so many questions nagging my mind — questions about Les, about some of Holder’s reactions that I didn’t understand…I was so pleased to see that in this book I found all the answers I was looking for.
Thanks to Holder’s POV, we get to see how his relationship with Les was, what happened when she died, how he faced up to the pain of losing her. We also get to know more about the period he went to Austin to stay with his father and about his whole relationship with his parents. And of course, through Holder’s eyes, we see the feelings he nurtures for Sky since the very first moment he lays eyes on her in that grocery store…Yes, in Losing Hope I fell for Holder even more.
I loved being inside his head. I like reading stories from the male character’s point of view and this one is masterfully done. There are also some new scenes between Holder and Sky that weren’t in Hopeless and I loved every single one of them. We get to see what happened after the ending of Hopeless and we also get a glimpse of Holder and Sky’s future…
This is one of those stories I’ll always cherish and that I’ll re-read several times. A story where hope is searched for and found.
I give Losing Hope 5 glittering stars.
Tamie’s review: I’ve had discussions with people about follow-up books from the male POV…is it really worth it is the question most asked. I won’t try to speak for all books that do it, but I can say without reservation that in this case it’s a screaming, jump up and down…Hells to the YES!
Losing Hope isn’t just a retelling of the same story by Holder…it’s so much more than that. We get back story that wasn’t provided, and answers to many questions that I personally had after Hopeless. We learn so much more about Holder as a person…why he feels and responds the way he does to many situations. We learn what he was thinking about and dealing with. Holder also gets answers to questions as the story progresses, and I felt that they were answers he needed to have to heal. I’m glad he got them. I’m glad I got them as well.
If you loved Hopeless, I believe you’ll love it even more after you read Losing Hope. If you loved Sky and Holder, I believe you’ll feel even closer to them as characters after reading this book. I certainly did.
My rating for Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover:
5 breathtaking hearts!
