Elena’s Book Crushes: Dylan Paris and Josh Bennett

There are so many fictional characters we wish they were real…Dylan Paris from Just Remember To Breathe by Charles Sheehan Miles and Josh Bennett from The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay are two of them…

Dylan Paris:

My Dylan: Armie Hammer

Why do I love Dylan?

Dylan is Amazing with a capital A. He’s handsome beyond words and he’s a former soldier. He fought in Afghanistan and the horrors he witnessed made him realize how precious and short life is. Dylan loves Alex with all his heart, but he’s afraid his past and his PTSD will ruin her life. He proves to be a character with a very deep and beautiful soul and you can’t but fall in love with him. He loves Alex more than life itself, as he says, and he wants her to be happy.

One of my favorite scenes involving Dylan: His love declaration at the end of the book.

Some of my favorite Dylan quotes:

““Alex, I don’t want to date you. I don’t want you to be my girlfriend. I don’t want us to be together for just a little while. I want you forever. I want us to look at each other, and say we love each other, and decide to be together forever. Alex…I want to spend our lives together. If we ever decided we want to have kids, I want it to be me and you.”

“Alex, I don’t need to keep myself safe from you. I don’t want to keep myself safe from you. You mean too much to me. I’d rather have a lifetime of heartache, from you breaking my heart, than even imagine my life without you at all. Because a life without you wouldn’t be a life at all.”

“Alex… I love you.  I’ll go where you lead me.  I won’t ask for more.”

Why do I love Josh?

Josh is another book boyfriend to swoon over. He’s a complex character whom you get to know little by little and who conquered my heart completely. He’s not just a handsome face — he’s a guy who sees right through you and that is capable of loving with all his heart and soul, if you give him the chance to love you…

One of my favorite scenes involving Josh: the ending…

Some of my favorite Josh quotes:

Good morning, Sunshine.”

“I wished my mother was here tonight, which is stupid, because it’s an impossible wish.” He shrugs and turns to me, drowning the smile that cracks me every time.
“It’s not stupid to want to see her again.”
“It wasn’t so much that I wanted to see her again,” he says, looking at me with the depth of more than seventeen years in his eyes. “I wanted her to see you.”

“Emilia,every day you save me.”

‘I love you, Sunshine. And I don’t give a shit whether you want me to or not.”

“You know I meant it. I am human. And male. And not remotely blind. Do you want me to say it again? You are distractingly , even-if-that-is-not-a-real-word pretty. You are so pretty that I bullied Clay Whitaker into drawing me a picture of you so I could look at you when you aren’t around. You are so pretty that one of these days I’m going to lose a finger in my garage because I can’t concentrate with you so close to me. You are so pretty that I wish you weren’t so I wouldn’t want to hit every guy at school who looks at you, especially my best friend.”

It’s pretty obvious that I’m melting here…Do you know these two characters? What do you like about them? Let me know in the comments 🙂
