Susi Reviews: Still Human by Kerry Heavens

Still Human by Kerry Heavens

still human

Danny and Liv are back…

Danny loves Liv. He knows he loves her more than she loves him because she ran without a word when she saw their future mapped out before her. He knows he will never love anyone like he loved her and this time he doesn’t think he can move on.

Liv loves Danny. She knows she loves him more than he loves her because he broke her heart in the worst possible way, right when things were falling into place. She knows she will never love anyone like she loves him and this time she doesn’t think she can move on.

They needed a second chance because they just weren’t ready for their first, but when events changed everything between them, they discovered they were just human after all. Now Liv and Danny have to find a way to survive being hurt by each other.

They doubted, they underestimated and they did believe the worst, but only because they were too young the first time and too vulnerable the second time. But now they have changed and if they are not the same, surely things can only turn out differently?

Tina Reviews: Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love #1) by Jessica Park

The synopsis:

He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy.

So, that was Matt. Who Julie Seagle likes. A lot. But there is also Finn. Who she flat out loves.

Complicated? Awkward? Completely.

But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother’s? This was all supposed to be temporary. Julie wasn’t supposed to be important to the Watkins family, or to fall in love with one of the brothers. Especially the one she’s never quite met. But what does that really matter? Finn gets her, like no one ever has before. They have connection.

But here’s the thing about love, in all its twisty, bumpy permutations—it always throws you a few curves. And no one ever escapes unscathed. Continue reading

Elena reviews: The Redemption of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen

TRoCaK cover

The synopsis:

The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he’s facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he’ll never ask her to do.

Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they’re together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts.

My review:

“Before you, there was just pain and emptiness and I really didn’t care if I lived or died. I was just there, existing at the surface of the water, not quite drowing, but not quite able to beathe. And then you came along, and I could finally breathe.” The Redemption of Callie and Kayden

Since I read The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, the first book in the series (of which you can find my review here), I was dying to get The Redemption of Callie and Kayden in my hands. Callie and Kayden are among my unforgettable fictional couples — I fell in love with their story since the first moment, and I wanted them to find their happy ending.

In this second installment, I was blown away by how strong and mature these characters become. In the first book, we saw them getting to know each other, falling in love, but there were lots of demons from their pasts lurking in the shadows…We knew Callie’s secret and we saw Kayden helping her recognize and embrace her self worth. Now it’s Callie that needs to save Kayden…
