Tamie Reviews: The Edge of Always by J.A. Redmerski

The synopsis:

He was taking the long road. She was taking the road to nowhere. It just so happened that they led to the same place…

When everything falls apart, love remains . . .

Camryn Bennett has never been happier. Five months after meeting on a Greyhound bus, she and her soul mate Andrew Parrish are engaged—and a wedding isn’t the only special event in their future. Nervous but excited, Camryn can’t wait to begin the rest of her life with Andrew – a man she knows in her heart will love her always. They have so much to look forward to—until tragedy blindsides them.

Andrew doesn’t understand how this could happen to them. He’s trying to move on, and thought Camryn was doing the same. But when Andrew discovers Camryn is secretly harboring a mountain of pain and attempting to numb it in damaging ways, there is nothing he won’t do to bring her back to life. Determined to prove that their love can survive anything, Andrew decides to take Camryn on a new journey filled with hope and passion. If only he can convince her to come along for the ride…

My review:

The Edge of Always by J.A. Redmerski was an ARC I wanted from the moment I knew it existed. I fell in love with Andrew and Cam during their journey in The Edge of Never. I’ve read it several times while waiting for the sequel because I couldn’t let go of the characters or their story.

When you love a book as much as I loved the first one it’s always exciting yet scary when you begin reading the next installment. Will it measure up? Will the characters be as compelling? Will the writing be as captivating?

For me the answer is an unequivocal and resounding YES!

One of the things I love about the relationship between Andrew and Camryn is that they’re both willing to try living the way they want. They want to experience life in a full and different way than what may be considered safe, and normal. I admire them for that. It’s not a life that will necessarily be easy, but they’re smart about it.

I think most readers are savvy enough to figure out what the “tragedy” is going to be that’s mentioned in the synopsis.  It is what I thought it would be but it’s still difficult emotionally for the readers and the characters alike. What compounds it tho is the emotional retreat that happens to Cam as a result. My heart ached for both of them as Andrew struggles to find a way to help get the woman he loves reconnected…to him, and to living.

His idea to take them back on a road trip has both good and bad consequences, but it’s a journey that ultimately provides healing in more ways than one. Yes, there are moments and scenes that are utterly gut wrenching. There are also many instances of a deep soul mate kind of love that strengthens and grows as the characters face both past and present difficulties.

Another thing I love about Andrew is the way he honestly tries to help Camryn grow stronger and more confident within herself. He teaches gently whenever possible but he understands that sometimes uncomfortable circumstances call for harsher methods. He pushes her to ask and answer questions that hold her back, but he does so in a way that leads them both to an even stronger, deeper, and more meaningful relationship.

This is a story that I loved reading. It’s a story that had just as much impact on me as the first one did. There is joy and passion along with the heartaches. There is adventure and discovery mixed in with humor and sadness. By the time I reached the epilogue which I found completely satisfying btw…I’d run the gamut of emotions with Andrew and Camryn. Their story was worth the wait and completely satisfying for me.

This is a book that I am giving the highest recommendation that I’m able to give. If you fell in love during The Edge of Never…You will fall even deeper while reading The Edge of Always.

My rating for The Edge of Always by J.A. Redmerski:

5 big, beautiful FLOVED it hearts!

This book is scheduled to be released on November 5th, and it’s one that you’ll want to devour the minute you’re able to.

**I was provided with an ARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, it’s one of the best books I’ve read**
