Hi all!! Welcome back to another FanFic Friday. Today, Michelle and Annie have lots of goodies for you to check out. First up, Michelle!
Happy Black Friday everyone!! I hope you’re enjoying this post after your long day out at the malls fighting the good price-slash fight!! Or maybe you stayed in your PJs and curled up in bed wanting a good fic rec to make the most of the holiday weekend. Either way, here are two great WIPs that you need to put on your TBR list!
Lots more after the jump!
Summary: I’ve made mistakes. I have regrets, so many regrets. The biggest one being leaving her, losing her. But I will find her, even if I have to climb through Hell to do so.
VAMPWARD!! And EPOV!! [deb: GAH!!!] The Missing is listed as angst/hurt/comfort but ten chapters into it, I think it should also be categorized as MYSTERY!! Myonlyheroin is really taking you for a ride in her version of what happens after New Moon Edward receives a mysterious call from Bella. But it’s been so long, is it Bella or a hallucination?
Mistakes, nothing but mistakes.
Yet here I am, searching for the one thing that shined a bright light into my dark existence.
But she was nowhere to be found.
Instead of those fateful words I said to her that day in the forest. “It will be as if I never existed.” But I am existing, only now, it is her that ceases to exist.
She was one of the missing.
From the prologue, you can get a sense of Edward’s misery from that fateful day in Forks when he left Bella behind for her safety. ((Oh, Edward…. don’t you know… no matter who writes the story, you should have never have left!! Men!!))
“Edward, find me. Please find me.”
Her breath came out in small pants. I could hear her sniffles, then the line going dead.
And this begins Edward’s search for Bella. He discovers he’s been away much longer than he thought and knows he has much to make up for. His journey home is tedious and his arrival in Forks leaves him shaken…
The sooner I got to her, the better.
Everything would be better then.
Only when I enter Forks, it wasn’t better. Not by a long shot.
Forks looked empty.
There were cars along the road. I passed by the diner that Charlie and Bella would frequent and not a single light was on, no one inside. Cars were parked out side of it though.
I breathed in as deep as I could, hoping to smell a trace of a human. Smells lingered, but they smelled old, faint even.
I drove through the town, turning on to Bella’s street, hoping to hear her neighbors in their houses.
Silence, nothing but silence.
I parked the car behind the cruiser.
Leaves covered the hood. It looked like the cruiser hadn’t been driven for month, maybe longer.
I walked up to the front door and it was eerily quiet. I didn’t hear the heartbeat that I wanted and needed to hear.
YIKES!! But Bella is smart… and she leaves him a clue under the floorboard. ((Think back to the book….you remember the floorboard full of memories??))
I have to believe that you still love me, deep down you just have to. I miss you. I love you beyond all reason. If I am lucky enough and you find this, I only ask you to do one thing for me: FIND ME. THEY are here! They found me. I love you, I will always love you. Please find me.
By chapter 8, Edward’s family comes into play on the search for Bella. It’s one of those stories where you just don’t know what’s coming next. [deb: oooooo *starts reading*] It’s pretty twisty and turny.
Does Edward find her? What happened in Forks? Is she still human? Has Edward missed his chance to save her…love her?
I guess you’ll just have to read The Missing. The chapters are short and Myonlyheroin updates pretty often, so you won’t have to sit on pins and needles too long!
Now for a new story from MrsSpaceCowboy….
Summary: On opposite corners of Third Street and Beale, two lonely people fight to stay that way. Her scars are on the surface, soft on her skin and in her eyes. His run bone-deep, seeped in bourbon and blues.
And guess what? It’s EPOV! And MrsSpaceCowboy (MSC) knows how to write a great EPOV! Not to mention the setting… you‘ll feel like you’re right in the thick of everything with her descriptive style. The story is listed as Romance/Angst, but after four chapters, I’d like to classify it as ‘mystery’ as well because MSC s-l-o-w-l-y gives us a glimpse of both Edward’s and Bella’s background. And I mean slowly!
I got nervous the first time I read this line from Edward….
Instead of hitting up the rest of Beale after dinner with the others, I promise to catch up with them in a few and sneak over to Handy Park to dial her number.
After the third ring, I glance at my watch. It’s nine in Seattle.
“It’s Makenna . You know what to do.”
“What kind of message is that, Mack? I know it’s Friday, and you’re probably busy… Just call me sometime this weekend if you have a chance.” Talking to her voicemail always makes me feel like a tool. Tonight is no exception. “I miss you. Love you.”
Eeek! But there’s always more to the story than meets the eye. As you can see from the banner, there are tatts involved. Swoon! Both Bella and Edward have issues from their past to overcome, so being open and trusting aren’t really their strongest qualities. Of course, Edward’s reputation may have something to do with it.
“Fresh meat,” Jasper says, nodding across the street at the tables in front of Rum Boogie Café.
My type. Obviously, she’s his type, too.
“Give me a minute,” I say to Irina, letting the pads of my fingers tickle the skin at the edge of her skirt.
“Where’ve you been, man?” Jake asks. “You’ve missed poker two weeks in a row.”
“Working. I picked up a couple of extra shifts at the station, and this fucker keeps me busy. No time for play.”
They both glance at Irina.
“Yeah. No time for play,” Jake laughs.
“What about you? Who are the girls?”
“That’s Bella.” Jake stands, ready to get back to his girl.
I watch her (Bella) walk away, ignoring the heat of Irina’s body against mine until soft lips tickle my ear. “I’m ready to go home. Are you coming?”
It’s been weeks since I’ve held a warm body. The one next to me will have to do. For now.
**shakes head** Oh Edward…. [deb: Boys are dumb 😦 ]
But this Edward has tenacity…
“Stop acting like I asked you to go steady or go to prom or some shit. I asked you to dinner to figure out what this might be,” I say, letting my fingers brush lightly over the lace covering her side. “And to see if there are any others.”
She turns to look at me, offering a small, twisted grin. “There are.”
“Yeah?” My hand moves to the back of my neck to keep from touching…
“You don’t date.” She’s been more than clear on the topic. But the way she’s breathing and tugging metal between her teeth brings to mind a far more important question. “Do you kiss?”
Good answer Bella! Wait? Why would you not kiss Edward?
I love the real life-like banter between Edward and his brothers. It’s just like being around family! And I can’t wait to meet Charlie. Bella describes him as protective. He even made her go to an all-girls school. Since the fic is only on chapter four, we’ve got a long ways to go toward the angst and romance, but with MrsSpaceCowboy running the ship, I’m looking forward to it.
Congrats to the winners for the following contests and Awards:
I found so many new fics and authors from these awards!
See ya next time.
Now, herrrrrrrrre’s ANNIE with some holiday-themed recommendations! 😉
Summary: Bella Swan wants an escort for Thanksgiving weekend. Edward Cullen wants a second chance. Charlie wants to know where Renee hid the key to his gun safe. Happy Thanksgiving!
Really, you can’t go wrong with MrsSpaceCowboy. This two-shot is not only funny, it’s adorable and sexy. Edward is sweet, Bella is awkward. Thanksgiving in Forks is epic, embarrassing and hilarious. It’s also completely enjoyable. A nice little break from retail madness. [deb: you had me at adorable and sexy]
Speaking of shopping, this is the perfect day to read another Thanksgiving story Seventh and Pine by iambeagle, which I rec’d HERE last year and is now complete. It also has the cutest banner ever. Edward in a Santa suit, in a frenzied crowd at Wal-mart. Enough said. [deb: Edward? in a Santa suit? *runs to read*]
