Fan Fiction Friday Guest Post with Lucia

Happy Valentine’s Day Fan Fic Friday!! We have a special treat this week because someone who I admire on Goodreads for her amazing insight on what she is reading is going share with us. Lucia also has a fantastic blog called Reading is My Breathing. (ain’t that the truth) One of my new year’s resolutions is to reach out to other bloggers and reviewers, and she was the first person I thought of, because I love her reviews.

What could be more appropriate on Valentine’s Day then to feature one of her favorite fan fic authors, chocaholic123. **reaching for my bag of Dove chocolates** I recently recd. one of her short stories, Plan B, which you can check out here.

Take it away Lucia….

Last year I came across author chocaholic123 and immediately fell in love with her stories. It rarely happens that I love everything one author writes, but it happened with chocaholic123. So without the much ado, here are my thoughts on some of her completed stories:

California dreaming banner

SUMMARY:  1967. Summer stalked in like a lion that year, fierce and angry; looking for someone to eat. Among the hippies, free love and Vietnam, we were forced to grow up, whether we wanted to or not.

Bella, who just graduaded from high school, is shy, innocent and wants to study english at uni while Edward is studying medicine but is supposed to go to Vietnam soon. What happens if the two of them meet at the beginning of summer 1967?

Chocaholic123 is amazing storyteller. With unique setting of America in 1967, this story had my immediate attention from the first chapter. Human rights movements, Vietnam war, politics and drugs (hippies), breaking the prejudices (homosexuality). All of those topics are focus of this story.

I love Edwards created by this author. They are kind, with a good heart, admirable persons. And I really liked Edward in this story too. He was so charismatic! Always a gentleman but oh so hot and attractive! Also, I liked Bella in this story. She was young, nice, smart and overall a good person.

California Dreamin’ was such a beautiful story! The excitement Bella and Edward experienced when falling in love made me all giddy. Many authors are capable of writing great smut. But the true art is in being able to write truly hot anticipation prior to steamy scenes. And Chocaholic123 excells in that.

“He was on a collision course with my senses, his touch making me raw with need, his whispered words and fevered eyes causing butterflies to explode inside me. It was all foreign to me, but amazing all the same.”

The uncertainty of what tomorrow would bring was palpable through out the whole story. The fear of war, of now knowing what would happen was making me anxious together with Bella.

“It might have been too fast, but I didn’t want to think on that for too long. The world was a messed-up place that year, like a 45 rpm record played at 78 speed. I knew the only way to get through the madness was to cling like crazy to every little piece of happiness it had to offer. I wanted to give him everything I could in our last days together. I smiled, squeezing Edward’s hand, listening to his heart drumming against my ear. There was so much about life I was uncertain of, from the war in Vietnam to my place in the world, but of one thing I was absolutely, and irrevocably certain.I wanted him.”

I loved this story and I cannot recommend it enough!

Corporate Affairs

SUMMARY:  Bella is a Management Consultant who works hard and plays harder. Edward is a Union Leader who fights for his workers’ rights. She is brought in to change things at the Car Factory. He won’t let her. The fight is on, attraction becomes obsession, and the lines between love and hate are blurred. BxE, AH, OOC. Rated M for eventual lemons.

Bella is a determined and ambitious young woman, trying to achieve successful career in a big consultant company. Having a secret affair with her married boss, she is not the Bella we are used to. This Bella is flawed but still a lovable person and character. What happens when she is appointed for a long-term consulting job in Michigan in a company with the strong union lead by noone else than Edward Cullen. Her suggestions for changes does not sit well with Edward and the war between the two of them is declared. But what are they going to do with that undeniable attraction?

This was one of the smartest and most interesting fanfic stories I have ever read. Bella was witty and able to stand up for herself. Edward was smart, sweet and sexy! This story not only has a  thrilling romance but also an intelligent background story. Author is either familiar with the subject on the matter or she did great job with research. Either way, all management and consultancy topic was perfectly done!  Writing style is engaging, smart and immediately sucks you into the story. Definitely another story I would recommend.
