Hi Kids! Every couple of months, we like to do a post where we share what we’ve been reading lately outside of fan fiction. Because believe it or not, there are actually books out there that we love and think you should read too!!
Let’s get to this, shall we…..
Annie’s been a busy girl. 🙂
What have been reading? Believe it or not, real live books. (Ok, they’re not alive but you know what I mean.) I read all three of Rainbow Rowell’s published novels, Attachments, Fangirl and Eleanor & Park. I loved them all but if I had to pick a favorite it would be…. ummm… Attachments. I’m not sure if it’s because it was written in the guy’s POV or because it’s more adult and less YA. Again, they were all great.
I also read Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. Wow. I knew nothing going in except that it was really emotional (based on people’s tweets while reading) and probably YA. It was both those things and so, so good. I read it twice back-to-back, something I haven’t done since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
I’m currently reading To Kill a Mockingbird, which I thought I must have read, but when I looked at my daughter’s copy, I realized I hadn’t. I must have only seen the movie. After that, I’m reading The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been on my list for a long time.
Author’s Summary: It’s his birthday and I’m giving him the one thing he really wants.
I had a great surprise this week when I read Liquor, Lube, and Latex by Livie 79 which I had saved to my to-read list for when I wanted some pure smut (see title). It started out as that, but was continued as a fun, little romance. It’s smart and funny and very enjoyable. Oh, btw, Edward is smokin’ hot. Just saying. [KB: Edward is always smokin’ hot. LOL]
Happy reading! Annie
Me?? I’ve been all over the place with my reading…
I am still recovering from the epic conclusion to The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, City of Heavenly Fire. Utterly fantastic. I swooned, sobbed, laughed. So many feels. Loved it!! Simon Lewis is my man…
After that book, I needed light and funny. The Redhead Plays Her Hand by Alice Clayton fit the bill perfectly. She really knows what every woman wants, and that’s a 24-year-old insanely gorgeous English actor named Jack Hamilton. Grace really grows up in this one, because well, Jack needed her to.
Right now, I’m reading Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger. I loved her Parasol Protectorate series. This book definitely has more of a YA feel to it, because of the age of the characters. No one writes Steam Punk like Ms. Carriger.
As for fan fic, I think I finally got my mojo back! I wasn’t really reading anything worth reviewing for awhile, until I noticed that alot of the stories on my WIP list had been completed. Serenity’s Prayer by labylibre is what I’m reading right now. I needed to read a canon-like AU story and this one is amazing! Look for a bigger review soon!!
Author’s Summary: When Edward takes Bella into the forest to dump her, her reaction completely surprises him. Will this be the end of B&E or will they find a new path to forever? A canon-based yet very different AU approach to New Moon.
So, please share in the comments what you’ve been reading lately. Books or fan fiction. Inquiring minds want to know…
Have a great Father’s Day weekend!!
