Elena Reviews: Room For You (Cranberry Inn #1) by Beth Ehemann

Four years ago, my dreams were shattered in an instant.

I tried to pick up the pieces and glue them back together the best I knew how, but something was always missing.

A father for my two girls.

But then, Brody Murphy landed on my doorstep, literally. He was a carefree, playful hockey player who barged into my life and messed with my head. He left me more confused than I had ever been.

What if the one thing I thought I needed was the only thing holding me back?

MY RATING:   4 bright stars

4 stars

“She clearly had some deep scars and should be easy to walk away from, but instead of running the other direction I wanted to scoop her up, clean her off and make her world good again.” — Room For You

Can a heart be so full of joy when reading a book? Yes, it can with Room For You by Beth Ehemann. This is one of the sweetest stories I’ve ever read! Not the cheesy kind of sweet, though. Far from it. It’s a story that has a real sweetness, real characters, the key word being REAL.

Those who follow my reviews know that in order for a story to grab my attention, it needs to be realistic. Room For You is very much so and its characters are absolutely adorable. And make room for another book boyfriend, ladies…Brody Murphy is going to completely own you.

Room For You is the first instalment of the Cranberry Inn series and it’s SO worth the read. I loved everything about it and it stands out from a lot of books out there. First of all because Kacie Jensen is a twenty four year old mom. She and her two twins were abandoned by her ex-boyfriend Zach, when the kids were very little, and she’s been taking care of them and coping with her single mom status since then. Brody Morphy, a professional and famous hockey player, enters her life out of the blue, under completely unexpected circumstances and everything changes. Kacie will have to face the demons of her past and look into her soul in order to see if she’s ready to open her heart again. Brody will have to conquer her and prove to her that he’s worth it, that he won’t hurt her like Zach did a few years back…

Kacie is an amazing woman. She’s gone through hell and in spite of that, she’s never let herself drown. She’s always hold her head high and found the strength to go on, propelled by the love for her adorable twins. She wants to give them everything in the world and not let them suffer from not having a dad. She also wants to realize her dreams and she works hard in order to achieve that. Kacie is definitely a character to admire.

Brody Murphy is too fantastic for words, ladies…He’s just wonderful. Everything he does, everything he says will turn you into a puddle on the floor. He’ll do everything in his power to prove to Kacie that he’s not the man her ex-boyfriend was, and that he wants a life with her and her kids, a life made of love, respect, unselfishness and utter bliss. And the way he treats her two twins melted my heart! Let me say that you’ll happy sigh every time he says “Twinkies”. Have I mentioned how amazing Brody is? 😉

“Life is a sum made up of small parts, Kacie. Some are good; some are bad. You and the girls are definitely one of the good. The best good there is and I’ll fight like hell to keep you here.” — Room For You

There are some hurdles to overcome, though, and I loved how Beth Ehemann wrote the whole story. She made my heart pound so fast, and in several scenes she made me stay on my toes, anxious to see how things were going to turn out. And at the end I had a huge grin on my face… 😉

“If you never give up on love, it will never give up on you.” — Room For You

I love that the story is told from both Kacie’s and Brody’s POV. We really get to understand their thoughts and reactions and both POVs are so well written that you feel as though you knew Brody and Kacie.  The secondary characters are so well developed, that they don’t seem secondary at all. And there are some of them that will have you giggle uncontrollably, like Viper and Alexa…

I’ll read everything Beth Ehemann will write in the future, because she has a way of captivating her readers that’s rare to find.

I’ll be reviewing Room For More, the second instalment, soon. I’ll just say that it’s even better than the first one, so…. 😉

“I fall in love with you every single time I watch you interact with Lucy and Piper. The love you feel for them is so vast and overwhelming, it absolutely amazes me. I sometimes wonder if there’s room in your heart for me too, but then we’re alone..and it’s there. Whatever it is, it hangs in the air between us, so fucking thick I can hardly breathe.”

“Your own happiness isn’t a priority?’ Brody looked at me with wide, shocked eyes. ‘Wow. That’s incredible. How will your girls ever be happy if you aren’t?'”

“You were so scared, Kacie, just like you are about life. I wanted you to see that sometimes, even when something terrifies you, if you just give it a chance it’s actually pretty incredible.”

On my list to read … may have to bump up now with your review. The synopsis has always intrigued me. If you like realistic, have you read Familiar Ground by Michelle Lynn? I am reading right now and all I can say is WOW! An amazing story about a challenging situation that just pulls you in and won’t let go. Thanks for all the great book information.
