Elena’s Picks: Heart-melting Quotes of 2014 (so far)

Today I wanted to share some quotes from books I’ve read THIS year and that I can’t stop thinking about. Quotes that made me swoon, made my heart beat faster, gave me food for thought…Quotes that went straight to my Goodreads list.

Like I said these come from books I’ve read this year and that will end up on my favorite list of 2014.

Torture To Her Soul by JM Darhower:

You want to know what I think about when I look at you, Karissa? “
“What?”
“I think there’s nobody else like you in the world.”

“Tell me,” I whisper, running my tongue along the shell of her ear. “Tell me how you want it to be. Tell me what you need from me.”
I’ll give her anything.
I’ll tear my fucking chest open with my bare hands, rip out my heart and hand it to her, if that’s what she needs.
All she has to do is tell me.
All she has to do is ask.”

“I’m not a good man,” he says, “but I’m trying. I’m trying. I can’t make you any promises of perfection. I can’t promise I’ll be what you deserve, or what you need, or even what you always want. All I can promise is that I’ll love you until the day I die, and I’ll spend every moment I’m alive trying for you.”

Making Faces by Amy Harmon:

“True beauty, the kind that doesn’t fade or wash off, takes time. It takes incredible endurance. It is the slow drip that creates the stalactite, the shaking of the Earth that creates mountains, the constant pounding of the waves that breaks up the rocks and smooths the rough edges. And from the violence, the furor, the raging of the winds, the roaring of the waters, something better emerges, something that would have otherwise never existed.
And so we endure. We have faith that there is purpose. We hope for things we can’t see. We believe there are lessons in loss, power in love, and that we have within us the potential for a beauty so magnificent, our bodies can’t contain it.”

“I wrote your name across my heart

So I would not forget.

The way I felt when you were born

Before we’d even met

I wrote your name across my heart

So your heart beats with mine

And when I miss you most I trace

Each loop and every line

I wrote your name across my heart,

So we could be together

So I could hold you close to me

And keep you there forever.”

“I would rather be lost with you than alone without you.”

“I want your body. I want your mouth. I want your red hair in my hands. I want your laugh and your funny faces. I want your friendship and your inspirational thoughts. I want Shakespeare and Amber Rose novels … And I want you to come with me when I go.”

Room For You by Beth Ehemann:

You are my future, Kacie. You’re my present and my future and if I could figure out a way to invent a damn time machine, you’d be my past.”

“Kacie, get attached. Please, get attached. I sure as hell know I am. You’re what I want. You and the girls. This is it for me.” I brushed a fresh tear from her cheek. “I know we’re taking our time, especially where the girls are concerned, but you’re my more, remember?”

“Life is a sum made up of small parts, Kacie. Some are good; some are bad. You and the girls are definitely one of the good. The best good there is and I’ll fight like hell to keep you here.”

“You were so scared, Kacie, just like you are about life. I wanted you to see that sometimes, even when something terrifies you, if you just give it a chance it’s actually pretty incredible.”

Breakable by Tammara Webber:

“Luck could be earned and created. It could be discovered. It could be regained. After all – I’d found this girl. I’d found my future. I’d found forgiveness. My mother would have been happy for me…”

“She’d conjured love in the heart of a man whose soul had been frozen for years, anesthetized by too much pain and guilt to bear.”

“I shook to my core, my soul curving around her protectively as my mind strove to determine the logical calculation that could make her mine. I wanted to be hers as much—more—than I wanted to possess her, when I knew damned well that neither was possible.”

No Weddings by Kat and Stone Bastion:

Real love is messy. It’s fights, but more about the making up. It’s pulling apart to find our own paths, but running together and holding on tight, refusing to let go. Love is the calm in the middle of the storm.”

” ‘Stop looking at me like that.”

Her voice was breathy, low. I took a step closer. ‘Like what?’

‘Like you want to devour me right here.’

‘I do.'”
