This weeks Thirsty Thursday topic is: Favorite Smut Writers. Now I have to confess to you that the term smut is not a favorite of mine. For me personally it has a negative connotation not a positive one. Even using the term erotica these days seems kind of weird if what you’re really meaning is just a book that has graphic sex scenes in it. I’m all for those by the way…as long as they’re well written and not overly repetitive.
So, with that being said I’ll share my favorite authors who bring the heat I love, but do it the right way.
E.L. James~ I’ll never forget my reaction the first time I read Fifty Shades of Grey way back in August of 2011. I’d never read anything with BDSM before, so I found it both fascinating and arousing. As much as I enjoyed that facet of the story, and I truly did…for me the real gem was in watching both Christian and Ana navigate a relationship beyond that. Actually, they are both virgins in that aspect, and I found myself really wanting them to come through all the doubts and turmoil strong enough to stay together. I wanted this couple to be a forever couple, and I eagerly devoured all three books in the series.
Helena Hunting~ I cannot say enough good things about Helena’s writing. It’s real, it’s honest, and hell to the yes…it’s sexy. It’s everything I could ask for. The Clipped Wings series remains on my favorite of 2014 list, and as much as I hate to let go of Hayden and Tenley…whom I adore and can’t get enough of…I really am excited to read her newest book The Librarian Principle which is releasing in December. I have no doubt whatsoever that I’ll fall madly in love with her new characters as well as the story itself.
Lorelei James~ With a really unique story that was both compelling and sexy I added Lorelei James to my favorite author list this year when I read the first two books in the Mastered series. She’s a writer who will keep you turning the pages excitedly because you just have to know what happens next for Ronin and Amery. Phenomenally good! She’s been publishing for a long time, so how she escaped my attention so long is beyond me, but better late than never. I just finished her novella, Schooled, and was once again immediately drawn into the story. It releases on December 2nd. I have grabby hands for the next full length book, Unraveled, which comes out in March of 2015.
These aren’t my only favorites of course, but that would be a very, very long post indeed 🙂
Who are some of your favorites?
Tamie Xo
Sylvia Day for sure! That woman can make reading the phone book sexy and hot. Some of the best love scenes in any romance books I’ve read, even her historical fiction is hot hot hot!

For me I don’t think of SR as a writer of graphic sex scenes like the others I listed…sensual yes. Maybe that will change in his new books 🙂

I agree with all of the authors listed. I have read and enjoyed them all. One of my new favorites that really bring the heat in addition to a great story is Joey W. Hill.

The first two I really like, E.L. James was my first romance novel, now 100s of books later I love Ranae Rose, Sawyer Bennett & Toni Aleo. I am currently hooked on hockey romance novels, perfect since I am a hockey mom. 😍
