Making Up For Monday: Reading Goals

How did you do with your reading goals for this past year?

In 2014 my reading goals were definitely different from years past. In 2013 I read like a mad woman, and at the end of the year I made the decision that I really needed to take it slower. I read pretty fast normally, but I was really pushing it all the time because there were just so many books I wanted to read. It wasn’t easy to make myself slow down and really savor the books I was reading, but I did it. I even took more days off than usual from current or upcoming books and did more rereads of old favorites.

I didn’t read as many books but my overall reading experience was enhanced and more pleasurable. So, I’m going to continue what I started in 2014 and try to do the same thing in 2015. I increased my goal on Goodreads by 10, but I think I can accomplish that without reverting to my former ways.

What about you? Have you made reading goals and are they the same or different from what you’ve done in the past?

I pushed myself this past year to read more, but I think that I fell into what you described. Reading too fast just to get through. I met my goal, but won’t do that to myself again this year.

I had a target of 150 and reached 169 but I had 5 rereads that didn’t count & 2 that I never bothered to add. Same target this year but my life may change so I might not get there.
