Making Up For Monday…

Have you ever read a book so emotionally draining you couldn’t complete it or had to set aside?

I’ve read many books that were incredibly draining on an emotional level, but apart from taking short, normal breaks to catch my breath, or to reflect on what I’ve just read, I’ve never had to set one aside, or didn’t finish it.

What about you? Lemme know in the comments 🙂

The Thoughtless series was like that for me. I actually had anxiety reading those books because of how Keira made me feel. I was tempted to stop reading half way through Thoughtless but I took a break, gathered my thoughts and figured if Keira was having this kind of affect on me then there is something to be said for the S.C. Stephens writing. I held in there and I’m glad I did. The HEA was worth it! I have Thoughtful to read but I’m going to wait a bit since I’m not emotionally ready to read Kellan’s heartbreaking side.

Yes, S.C.Stephens “Collision Course” upset me, and I had to stop reading and take a break for a few days. I’m glad I finished it. Madeline Sheehan’s “Unbeautiful” series did that to me too, but for entirely different reasons.

It was The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski for me. I was crying so hard I had to walk away and leave the book until I could compose myself. I haven’t cried that hard since. Yes I cry while reading a lot.

That series was hard to read in places too. The end of the first one, had me sitting on the edge of my seat, and I held my breath, through the first 10 pages of the second one.

Angela’s Ashes. I hated that book with a passion. I can’t even remember anymore if it was emotionally draining or I was just so annoyed by the characters that I had to stop reading it. I can’t remember any other book that I just dropped like that. I guess this is a crappy answer to your question but it immediately popped into my head!
