Elena Reviews: Thoughtful by S.C. Stephens

In Thoughtless, Kiera told her story. Now it’s time to hear from the sexy rock star who captivated us all . . .

The only place Kellan Kyle has ever felt at home is onstage. Gripping his guitar in a darkened bar, he can forget his painful past. These days his life revolves around three things: music, his bandmates, and hot hookups. Until one woman changes everything . . .

Kiera is the kind of girl Kellan has no business wanting-smart, sweet, and dating his best friend. Certain he could never be worthy of her love, he hides his growing attraction . . . until Kiera’s own tormented heart hints that his feelings might not be one-sided. Now, no matter the consequences, Kellan is sure of one thing-he won’t let Kiera go without a fight.

You all know how much I love retellings from the male character’s point of view. You also already know how much I loved Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens. Put this two together, and you get the perfect combination that is Thoughtful.

In Thoughtful we enter Kellan’s mind, and I loved every single moment I was in there. Kellan became one of my favorite characters when I read Thoughtless, and Thoughtful is his book. It’s the missing part of Thoughtless; it’s what we all Kellan lovers needed.

I loved seeing what Kellan was thinking and feeling for Keira during their whole tumultuous relationship — from the very moment it started. If you love Kellan, be ready to make even more room for him in your heart. I thought I knew him well in Thoughtless, but only now that I’ve read Thoughtful can I say that I know Kellan. It was painful to read some of the flashbacks about his past, but it was a necessary evil, so to speak. Only by reading them, can we fully understand him. S.C Stephen’s writing is always wonderful to me, and it was a delight to experience it again.

I’ll say this, though: if you didn’t like Thoughtless, I don’t think you’ll like Thoughtful either. I’m saying this, because I know many readers didn’t like the very nature of Kellan and Keira’s relationship, and in Thoughtful nothing changes. Thoughtful doesn’t justify it. You just can’t rule the heart…So, if you were waiting for Thoughtful to find something that could justify Kellan and Keira’s actions, I think you’ll be disappointed, because you won’t find it in this book. They fall in love, and that’s the reason why they do what they do. BUT, Thoughtful could make you understand Kellan better, if you like, and see what he really feels for Keira.

That being said, I believe Thoughtful is for all those who liked/loved Thoughtless. I’m one of those, and Thoughtful was absolutely perfect for me.

It can be read as a standalone, but, for those who are new to the series, I wouldn’t recommend you read it first. I’d rather suggest you read Thoughtless, and only then pick up Thoughtful. Just my two cents.

Thoughtful goes straight to my favorite books list of 2015.

I was just considering the concept of Thoughtful as a standalone. I wanted buy a gift for a friend and was considering which books to buy for her. Of course, Thoughtful came to mind immediately. Not that I wouldn’t be willing to buy the entire series for her, but would she have the patience/time to get through it? Anyhow, have a great day.

      Hello liz 🙂
I suggest you buy for her Thoughtless first. There’s no need to buy the whole series. Just buy for her the first book as a gift 🙂

Thoughtless is one of my all-time favorite series, and Kellen Kyle is one of my all time favorite BBF’s but I usually don’t like re-tellings. I don’t have the patience to read the same story twice, but after reading your review, I just might give Thoughtful a try.
