Tell Me Something Tuesday with Elena: Long Running Book Series…

Tell Me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings. This topic was discussed a couple of weeks ago, but I find it interesting to ponder upon:

Do you like to jump on board and start a series when it already has ten books or more out?

ย Oh yes, I personally do like starting a series that already has installments out. I like not having to wait days on end for the next book to come out, and jumping right into the next story without any delay. One example of this kind of series are the books by Judith McNaught. I discovered them a couple of years ago, andย all of them were already out. I literally couldn’t stop reading. I finished with one book, and I immediately started the next one, as if I were on autopilot LOL. I love McNaught’s books very much, and I was so glad I could read them without having to wait.

What about you?

  1. I LOVE long series with majority of instalments already released ๐Ÿ™‚ For example, I discovered Outlander by Diana Gabaldon last year when it had 7 books out (now there are 8 released) and fell in love and spent weeks lost in the world Diana Gabaldon created in her unforgettable series. I am not very patient person. I prefer long and conmpleted series so I do not have to wait between each instalment ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m like you, I love when there’s more than 1 book out or even better if the whole series is out. OMG Judith McNaught is one of my favorites. My first book of hers was Perfect I read it when it first came out back in the 90’s. It was the pink cover with the flowers that sold me. I had never heard of her, but pink is my favorite color and I love flowers, so thanks to that I discovered the woman who became my favorite author. After I read Perfect, I had to read every single one of her books and I did. She will always be one of my faves. Wow talk about nostalgia.

I love to read long series. It is great to really get invested in characters, and follow their story, for a long time. If the whole series is already out, that is a bonus. It can be so frustrating, waiting for the next book, especially if the book ends on a cliffhanger. I am holding my breath right now, waiting for Pepper Winters next book in the Indebted series. August can’t get here fast enough. I just started Emma Chase’s Tangled. I bought the whole series, taking a gamble on a few recommendations. So far, I think, the gamble is paying off. I was ready for a good read.
