In real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. But how about books? Does where a book is set affect your reading choices? Are you more or less likely to read books set in places you know or love?
When a synopsis mentions the location(s) that the book will be set in, it does give it an edge if it’s somewhere I love, have been to, or want to visit. I’m originally from the San Francisco bay area, so in my heart that’s always going to be home, and I adore stories that are set in or nearby. I also love settings in other places that I’ve lived or been to, and I think it’s that extra feeling of connection that draws me to stories when location plays a part in whether I want to read a particular book or not.
What about you?
