Breath of Fire (Kingmakers Chronicles) by Amanda Bouchet

SHE’S DESTINED TO DESTROY THE WORLD…
“Cat” Catalia Fisa has been running from her destiny since she could crawl. But now, her newfound loved ones are caught between the shadow of Cat’s tortured past and the threat of her world-shattering future. So what’s a girl to do when she knows it’s her fate to be the harbinger of doom? Everything in her power.

BUT NOT IF SHE CAN HELP IT
Griffin knows Cat is destined to change the world-for the better. As the realms are descending into all-out war, Cat and Griffin must embrace their fate together. Gods willing, they will emerge side-by-side in the heart of their future kingdom…or not at all.

So many things to love about this series! When I finished this book, I literally didn’t know what I could possibly read next…

I was lucky enough to read this book less than a month after reading the first book, so all of the characters and storylines were fresh in my mind. This author’s ability to describe everything the Cat is feeling and seeing makes it so easy to think, This could totally be a movie!

I mean this series has everything a person could love. Greek mythology, fast-pased fight scenes, intelligent but funny banter, hawt guys with swords, magic, love… I held my breath through every scene, because I didn’t know what would happen next and who would survive.

Cat’s past relationship with her mother catches up with her literally, and that makes for a great story. The chemistry between her and Griffin is fantastic, but the secondary characters also held my attention. Especially Kato.  Bottom line- I can’t wait for the next book!

favorite quotes

His strength amazes me. Honors me. I’m not sickened by his state. I’m impressed. The man I love endures. He is me, and I am him. We are forged of the same passion and violence, and we have hearts of iron.

I’ve always been good at denial. I didn’t know I’m such an expert that I can crawl into an abandoned room and put myself into a coma.

I will never let you go, and I will never leave you. I would defy creatures, and Gods, and terrible, brutal queens to keep you safe and by my side. I would move Mount Olympus itself to hold you in my arms and feel your heart beat against mine. You are my soul, and yes, I will fight for you and protect you until my dying breath.

5 stars

I give this book 5 fantastikós stars, and put it on my “top shelf fantastic reads” and “favorites” shelves on Goodreads.

****I was given an advanced copy of this book through Net Galley for an honest review. The quotes are from that copy.****
