Katiebird Reviews Royally Matched by Emma Chase

Royally Matched (Book #2) by Emma Chase

Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to help her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora agrees to give him “space”—but while the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world’s most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit… and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.

Oh Henry, my Henry. I fell in love with Henry while reading Royally Screwed, so I was already on his side when I started this book. He already owned me, so Sarah needed to be extra special for me to love her. But this Emma Chase people, no one writes a love story like her…

Here’s the thing. Before Nicholas’ decision, Henry lived the life of the heir spare. He didn’t have to think about his actions or decisions with regards to the future of his country. His life up to this point was easy, and he milked his good looks, wealth, and royal status for all it’s worth. The life of a bachelor.

Josh Henderson is my Henry

Everything changed for him. I mean everything. He was suddenly responsible to know everything that Nicholas had be training for his whole life, in a instant. How overwhelming is that? I really felt for him. Don’t get my started with the Queen’s unreasonable expectations as well. I love the fact that Henry decided to take a different approach to finding his future mate. Again, I love Henry.

Reality TV dating show like The Bachelor/Bachelorette are NOT my thing, BUT I do love and did binge-watch the Lifetime drama series, UnReal. If you haven’t seen that series, I highly recommend it. It reveals what might really happening behind the scenes of shows like the Bachelor. It’s quite interesting and highly addictive. I am digressing here, but my point is Henry goes into this “quest” thinking that what he knows about dating on reality TV is what is shown to the viewing audience. He was very wrong…

It’s a rude awakening for him, that leaves him wondering WTF? Who is really on his side and who should he be trusting? Cameras, security, Ladies that aren’t there for the right reasons, executive producers that don’t care about what he wants or what is best for his country, that is what pushes Henry to find solace in a unexpected place.

Now, Sarah is not the typical Lady or heroine, but she is pretty amazing and much stronger than she thinks. I don’t actually want to say too much about her, because I really think you just have to meet her for yourself. I will say, that if she wanted to join us here at Bookish Temptations, she would be welcomed with open arms and would completely fit right in. My only condition is that I could have Henry to myself for road trips every once and awhile.

So as usual, Emma blends the perfect amount of humor, UST, and characters that have a serious human quality to them. And at the perfect time, intimate moments and just great sex, plus their “happily ever after” doesn’t go the typical way of fairy tales. She has a way of telling a great love story, that feels unique even though falling in love is a story that has been around since the beginning of time.

He’s going to be stubborn about this, I can tell. And there’s a foreign, blooming bud inside me that wants to try. It’s a quiet but insistent voice, a gently nudge. I’m starting to think of it as the Henry Effect, because he makes me fell so many…things. Safe and wild and maybe just a little bit mad all at once. – Sarah

With the sound of the music following me, I step out of the great room into the cooler hallway, wanting to catch me breath just for a moment. And here I used to think all the swooning heroines in my novels were over the top. But now I know their reactions were spot on. Now I understand. – Sarah

-Reading brings knowledge and knowledge is power; therefore reading is power. The power to know and learn and understand…but also the power to dream. Stories inspire us to reach high, love deep, change the world and be more than we ever thought we could . Every book allows us to dream a new dream. – Sarah

I don’t want to control her; I just want to keep her. Her gentle spirit, her kind loveliness has become the center of my world and I’m not sure I know how to function anymore without it. –Henry

And because I just couldn’t help myself…

Guess who is going to see them play live tomorrow? *full stop dancing and swooning*

It should come as no surprise that I give this book, 5 “sexy beast” stars, and put it on “favorites”, “books that own me” and “top shelf fantastic reads” shelves on Goodreads.
