Hi guys! In celebration of the release day of Melissa Marino’s SO WICKED, I am sharing, or rather she’s sharing something delicious this Tuesday to all of you. Continue reading
With all of the great book releases in April, I wanted to highlight my favorite reads!
Check out this newly released book from British author Emma Doherty!
Book Beginnings on Fridays is a meme hosted by Rose City Reader. A couple of Fridays a month, I will share the first sentence (or so) of the book I am currently reading, along with my initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
Elizabeth Kostova is an author I fell in love with years ago, when I read The Historian. Beautiful book, btw. When I saw that she was releasing something new, I was so excited. Her new book, The Shadow Land, was published this week! I am still reading it, and really love the setting. The opening scene really sets the tone…
For Vicente Bernal, truth is all he’s known. The son of an infamous drug lord, Vicente was born to help run the family business, which means he’s been raised on a throne of sordid pasts and dirty laundry, violence and pride. But when Vicente stumbles across someone he’s not supposed to know about – a woman from his father’s checkered past – he sets out to California to find her behind his father’s back.
What Vicente doesn’t expect to find in San Francisco is Violet McQueen, the woman’s twenty-year old daughter. Beautiful and edgy with a vulnerability he can’t resist, Violet tempts Vicente from afar and though he promised himself he’d stay away from her, curiosity and lust are powerful forces. Besides, Vicente has always gotten everything he wants – why shouldn’t he have Violet too?
Soon his wants turn into an obsession, one that sweeps Violet into his games as they fall madly, deeply in love with each other, the type of first love that can drive a person mad.
But it’s a love with tragic consequences.
Both the truth – and the lies – not only threaten to tear them apart, but threaten their very lives.
Someone has to pay for the sins of the fathers.
And they’ll be paying the price with their souls.
I was worried that because I haven’t read Sins & Needles, before starting this new series, that I wouldn’t be able to follow the characters or the storyline, but I was wrong. Vincent and Violet are perfect all on their own. It’s kind of like a kinky, sexy Romeo and Juliet.
SHE’S DESTINED TO DESTROY THE WORLD…
“Cat” Catalia Fisa has been running from her destiny since she could crawl. But now, her newfound loved ones are caught between the shadow of Cat’s tortured past and the threat of her world-shattering future. So what’s a girl to do when she knows it’s her fate to be the harbinger of doom? Everything in her power.
BUT NOT IF SHE CAN HELP IT
Griffin knows Cat is destined to change the world-for the better. As the realms are descending into all-out war, Cat and Griffin must embrace their fate together. Gods willing, they will emerge side-by-side in the heart of their future kingdom…or not at all.
So many things to love about this series! When I finished this book, I literally didn’t know what I could possibly read next…
