Locklear Library: The Prince by Sylvain Reynard

Morgan and I recently benefited from good book release timing. As we were finishing up our year-long read of Dragonfly in Amber, we realized we would have the perfect opportunity to read the first novella in The Florentine Series before moving on to the next book in the Outlander saga. We read through The Prince in just a couple of evenings and found it an intriguing introduction to the underworld of Florence, Italy.

In case you haven’t read one of our Locklear Library posts before here is how it works. This will be a written conversation between us about our experiences and impressions of the book. We do our best not to disclose spoilers, but we will be talking about the story, and we have no idea what we’ll be asking each other about until now.

Jennifer will go first…

Locklear Library: Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon

It’s hard to believe but, it’s been a year since our last Locklear Library installment. We really enjoy this segment and have wanted to do much more with it than we have; but therein lies the problem. Those Outlander books are big!

We read books together, which is to say that Jennifer reads them aloud while Morgan plays stick figure golf on his phone. Dragonfly In Amber, the second book in the Outlander series, is big enough to be mistaken for a family bible and we also had our hands full with the editing and publishing or our own novel. Needless to say, it was a long year that went by in a short time but during that time we have made a ton of Outlander (and OutMANder) friends.

To refresh your memory (and ours), this post will be a written conversation between us about our experiences and impressions of the book. We do our best not to disclose spoilers, but we will be talking about the story, and we have no idea what we’ll be asking each other about until now.

Morgan will go first…

Blogiversary Blowout: Amelia and Tamie Interview Kristen Ashley

a blogiversary banner

Today I’m very happy to welcome Kristen Ashley to Bookish Temptations. She’s one of my and Tamie’s favorite authors. Just FYI, this my first time interviewing an author so I’m really glad and excited that it’s Kristen fraking Ashley. She’s that author that can do no wrong for me. I love the crap out of  every freaking book she writes, as you guys may noticed when you read my reviews of her books (totally fangirling here). I hope you guys enjoy this interview as much as we do.

PS: I didn’t pass out when I got the news that I’m gonna interview Kristen Ashley. Just squee-ing and dancing. You know, like any normal fans.

Special Announcement: Join Us and These Amazing Authors for Our Three Year Blogiversary Blowout!!!

It’s really kind of hard to believe that we’re celebrating our 3rd blogiversary. For those of you who don’t know it started out with just me, but I quickly realized that in order to have the kind of blog I really wanted I would need others who were like minded. So I began building a team, and what a team I have. Their dedication to finding books and authors they believe in matches my own, and really that’s what our focus has always been and will continue to be. One of my goals with this blog was to find ways to support books/authors beyond a review, a cover reveal, an occasional guest post, and all modesty aside…I think we do that and do it very well.

I also wanted this to be a fun place for people to visit, and I sincerely hope that YOU…our readers, our supporters, our followers find that to be the case. There are so many book blogs for you to choose from, so when you choose to click one of our links, or when you enjoyed a post and clicked on one of the share buttons, or left a comment, or tweeted/retweeted on Twitter, liked/shared on Facebook?!? Well, that lets us know that all the time and effort we put into Bookish Temptations is absolutely worth it. Thank you!

To the many authors who have worked with us, who have given us guest posts…not just this year but over the past three I want to tell you something. We never, ever take you for granted. We still fangirl when you say yes to a request to appear on our blog. We appreciate the time you take, the giveaways you offer, the links you provide on social media and your website…every single time. Thank you!

Now I know that some of you didn’t come here to read a speech…you just want to know the good stuff. Am I right?!? 😉

Ok then…here you go. It’s with great pleasure that I share the authors who will be joining us as we celebrate our third year…

Hollywood in Fiction: A discussion between authors Morgan and Jennifer Locklear and Alexandra Richland

For those of you unfamiliar with these authors, they have written books set against the backdrop of Hollywood.

Alexandra Richland spends rotating twelve-hour shifts working as a registered nurse at a Toronto hospital, indulging in her love of science and medicine and caring for patients with their own unique tales to tell.

When she is not on duty, Alexandra escapes into her own imagination. Therein lies a fantasy world of thrilling adventure, gorgeous men, classic Hollywood glamour, exotic getaways, and a seductive dose of romance. Alexandra captures these stories in her popular novels, The Starlight Trilogy and Frontline, her novella, Slip Away, and her short story, Gilded Cage.

Morgan and Jennifer Locklear met in 1989 as teenagers and became high school sweethearts.  They have been married since 1995 and live in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States with their two children, a son and daughter.

Although both enjoyed creative writing in their youth, they have only been working as a writing team since 2010. Since then they have created a dozen full-length and short stories together.

Jennifer has been employed in fundraising and development for a non-profit organization since 2000. She also enjoys participating in charitable activities, both locally and online. In her (limited) free time she is an avid reader.

Morgan has been employed in the hospitality industry since 1998. He has been active in the local performing arts community since childhood with many acting and directing credits to his name. He is also a musician and songwriter and has recorded 6 albums.
