One girl’s heart gets rocked to the core in the first novel in this sexy New Adult series.
Twenty-one-year-old front girl Emmylou knows that getting her band noticed in the ‘90s indie rock scene will be no easy task. She definitely knows better than to break the number one rule of the band: Don’t sleep with your bandmates! But after she ends up having the best sex of her life with her guitarist, Travis, she finds following that rule is a lot harder than it sounds.
When the band gets the gig of their dreams, making it big seems just within reach. But Emmy’s inability to keep her hands off Travis threatens everything they’ve worked for. Can Emmy find a way to break the rules and not blow the chance of a lifetime?
I found out about this book from Lauren (part of Christina Lauren), when she sent out this crazy intense email that praised this book, like I hadn’t heard anyone praise before. I wish I had saved the email for this post. But it definitely got my attention and was the main reason why it was on my Most Anticipated Books of 2016.
On February 14th we debuted the original song from Slater to Emmie from Erika Kelly‘s fabulous book, You Really Got Me. It was untitled and now’s your chance to show your creativity, and also have a chance to win an Amazon gift card and more!
MUSIC HAS THE POWER TO HEAL ALL…BUT NOT ALL BROKEN HEARTS CAN BE MENDED.

After moving past her painful breakup with Xander years ago, Ivy was poised to become the next big name in pop music…when suddenly she withdrew from the limelight—the same day she announced her engagement to her controlling agent, Damon Wolf.
Xander knows he should keep his distance. But once they’re on the road, he can’t resist pursuing her for a second chance. Yet a jealous Damon can’t let her go—and he’s keeping dangerous secrets that could destroy them all.
When the three of them come together, everything falls apart. But if Xander and Ivy can hold tight to the bond that connects them, they just might have a chance at reclaiming the powerful love they thought they had lost forever….
I want to talk about book boyfriends. A certain kind of book boyfriend. The ones that capture your attention, but keep it well after you’re done reading the book. Those are hard to come by for me. I’m reading all of the time, so the men in the books I read has to really be special to move me.
Music has always been a big part of my life, especially live music. I would spend my last dollar on seeing a band play live for sure. This love of music has become more apparent in the books I’ve been reading. I want to talk about a book that I am adding to the top of my favorite list for this year. Music is definitely the theme in it.
Gabriel’s Rapture is the second book in the Gabriel Series. SR did an amazing job with all three of them, but this one is my favorite. It takes the reader on a heart-wrenching journey, and evokes all kind of emotions. I don’t think I ever cried so much while reading a book. With all that, I enjoyed the literature, art and music mentioned in it. (it still amazes me how much I learned while reading this series)
Gabriel’s Redemption – the third and last book in the series, is on the shelves… so go get it if you haven’t yet. It’s the perfect ending to this beautiful trilogy.
Surprise!!! Or maybe not 🙂 You all know SRis my favourite author right? And because we are so close to the release of Gabriel’s Redemption (Dec 3rd) – the third book in Gabriel’s Series, I decided GI is going to be my first music post here on Bookish.
Since the first time I read this book, I was gone. I think many of you know what I mean. The brilliance behind the writing, the extensive research and exquisite taste (not to mention the swoon-worthy Professor) left me in awe. And now back to the music. Every song in this book was perfectly chosen to enhance the reader’s experience. But to bring you the entire playlist, I would probably need a few posts. There are so many amazing artists and songs mentioned, that I had a hard time choosing. I hope you like the selection I made . Also the quotes should help you see/feel exactly how perfect they match. Just a side note – when listening to an audiobook, I would love to hear the song mentioned playing soft in the background. Wouldn’t that be cool? So here we go:
Is there anyone that can honestly say that doesn’t like at least one music genre? Certainly not me :). I love them all! From classics (Bach is a favourite) to – I know you’re going to smile and shake your head – rap and hip hop (Eminem). Music combined with my passion for books – I’m in pure heaven. This is why, the new girl has decided to bring you a regular post on music in books.
