Tamie had changed her outfit four times. How do you dress for a date with the Devil? Jeans, a fancy dress, and a negligee all lay in a pile on her floor. It was a cloth grouping of failed disguises. She tried to remind herself that she’d asked for this. The dealer was an author named Debra Anastasia who was of questionable sanity. Satan Jack had seduced Tamie from afar. From pages. Even though his hand had never run down her cheek, her skin was branded as if it had.
Tamie was almost out of time, if he was on time that was. She slipped her negligee back on and pulled on her jeans. She tucked the flimsy satin into the pants. The resulting outfit was sexy and casual. Her doorbell rang.
Jack was early. If it was Jack. She thought briefly of calling Debra Anastasia and cancelling the whole thing. Her daydream had gone too far, here in her real world, she couldn’t entertain a man she barely knew.
She stumbled down the stairs and decidedly past the telephone. Her curiosity had her by the neck. Or breasts. Or anything. She looked at her front door. Smoke was seeping in the sides like an impatient cloud was waiting on the opposite side. Tamie glanced in the mirror above her fireplace. Her hair was wild from all her quick changes, but she refused to pat it down. It fit her actions, reckless and daring.
She strode confidently to the door, unlocked it, and swung it open.
One of my favorite things to discuss here…other than my fantasy boyfriends are great quotes, scenes, and passages from my favorite books. I do this because I’m hoping for one of two reactions.
1) That I spur the interest of someone who hasn’t read the book they come from enough so that they’ll go read the book.
2nd) To bring back good memories for those who have read and enjoyed them.
Most of the books I choose to read nowadays don’t come from the big publishing houses. They are books not readily available in places like Barnes and Noble, or even from your local library. There is so much talent out there that needs your help and support. I really hope that you’ll take a look at the smaller publishing companies like Omnific and TWCS if you haven’t already.
When you find an author(s) you love make sure you spread the word. Recommend, review, list, tag, rate. You don’t have to have a blog to do any of those things. You can do it on Goodreads, Amazon, Twitter…
Do the authors appreciate it? YES! They do!
I promised you great passages didn’t I? Well what are you waiting for? Make the jump and read…O by the way…most of the ones I chose are …erm…spicy. Did you bring your fan with you?
All week I’ve looked back at my favorites of 2011. It’s been a stellar year in my opinion for readers of all genres. Now it’s time to start looking forward to what I think will be another great year.
There is no particular order to this list because I’m truly excited by the prospect of reading them all. Most of the books have titles already but a few of them are still waiting to be named. (Arched brow at 3 of you)
I have included a very heartfelt note to all the authors whose books have appeared on my top 10 lists this week at the conclusion of this post.
Now, let’s break out the bubbly, pop the cork and drink a toast to what awaits us in literary bliss for 2012!
I must confess that this was quite an enjoyable list for me to ponder on. Let’s talk about what it means to me to be a fantasy boyfriend for just a minute. These are the guys that won’t leave you alone after you’re done reading the book. They stay in your mind, and erm… other places even after you’ve moved on to something new. You want to talk about them and share them…well kinda share them…with your girlfriends and anyone else who will listen. You wish they were real, and that you could meet up with them. And, we all know that if that happened they would be as enamored of you as you are with them. Am I right?!? Of course I am 😉
All of the men on my list are UBER HAWT and completely own the UNF factor necessary to be one of my fantasy boyfriends. Most of the guys on my list share physical characteristics, so yes I do have a particular “look” that I’m quite fond of, but I’m willing to make an exception occasionally. These guys make me break out in a sweat and get my heart beating just a little bit faster than normal…ok a whole lot faster than normal when if I fantasize daydream about them for very long. They get the gurly parts tingling while I’m reading/thinking about them. O. Did I just say that? You bet I did, and you know it’s true.
Are these men I’d like to meet in real life?!? Are you kidding me?!? Um…hells to the yes on that one! I’d go out on a date with any one of them right here, right now.
Hmmm… there’s a future post or two just waiting to be written 😉
This list contains a tie for 1st place. I absolutely could not do anything else, and believe me when I say I thought about it for weeks. I went back and forth many times over, but ultimately they both own a special place in my heart, and I refuse to give either of them anything less than 1st place. If you could only see all the highlights and notes and bookmarks in my Kindle that these two are responsible for. Yeah that. Ok, I’ve kept you from them long enough.
Ladies… I give you the best of the best…Careful now…spontaneous combustion may occur.
“He grabs me suddenly and yanks me up against him, one hand at my back holding me to him and the other fisting in my hair. “You’re one challenging woman,” He kisses me, forcing my lips apart with his tongue, taking no prisoners. “It’s taking all my self-control not to fuck you on the hood of this car, just to show you that you’re mine, and if I want to buy you a fucking car, I’ll buy you a fucking car,” he growls.” ― E.L. James, Fifty Shades of Grey
“She wanted more. More of him. More of this and them…she wanted to see him come apart above her and know that they had done this together. She wanted to find their own beautiful rhythm. The music swirled and rose about them, a tempting pace she was eager to match. She smiled, and he felt her smile travel all the way to his heart, allaying his worries. Without breaking eye contact, he began to move in and out maddeningly slowly.” ― Sylvain Reynard, Gabriel’s Inferno
