Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

FanFic Friday: We’re talking drabbles: Short and sweet or ‘Where’s the meat?’

UPDATE: I don’t know what I was thinking posting the day Breaking Dawn came out! LOL So here we go again…. New post next week. 🙂

Happy Friday all. Hope you all had a great week and will be seeing Breaking Dawn this weekend, if you haven’t already.

Today, instead of a straightforward story rec, I wanted to talk about a trend in fanfiction. You might recall that some of the “classic” fics were kind of epic; they have 50+ chaps and weigh in with word counts in the hundreds of thousands. They’re a real time investment but the good ones wrap you up in a world for days or weeks even. That can be great, if that’s what you’re in the mood for…

Sometimes a girl just needs a quickie, right?

So, drabbles. Well, something like drabbles. As with all things fic, authors have interpreted, reinvented and generally just run ripshod over the term. I love that. I, personally, tend to prefer shorter stories. I enjoy the economy of words and the near poetic way these stories read. They also appeal to my love of words; when an author is packing so much story into a few words each one has to convey a lot. Often, the author has written the whole story first and then posts in a unique way. The absolute best example of this is The Plan by Quantum Fizzx.

How many recs this week? Read on. More short and sweet (and not so sweet) after the jump.
