Book Beginnings on Fridays…

Rose City Reader hosts

Book Beginnings on Fridays is a meme hosted by Rose City Reader. A couple of Fridays a month, I will share the first sentence (or so) of the book I am currently reading, along with my initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

A Brightest Kind of Darkness series by P.T. Michelle is a series that I have loved for years. The last book, Awaken, was recently released, and I am so excited, that I wanted to share the opening paragraph…

Elena Interviews: Nina Lane, USA Today Bestselling Author of The Spiral of Bliss Series

Today I’m super excited and happy to welcome Nina Lane to Bookish Temptations. She’s one of my favorite Authors and I absolutely adore the Spiral of Bliss Series. I discovered her books a couple of months ago thanks to my friend Lena, and since then I haven’t stopped thinking about Dean West and Olivia Winter’s special love story.

So you can imagine my reaction when Nina Lane agreed to be interviewed by me. I think everyone heard me squeeing…;)

I had the chance to ask Nina a few questions about her book, her experience of being an Author, her future projects and more…

Elena Reviews: Awaken (Spiral of Bliss #3) by Nina Lane

Awaken Cover

The synopsis:

“I love that you love me, professor.”

I love loving you, beauty.”

Since their intense, passionate beginning, Professor Dean West and his wife Olivia have fought dark secrets and betrayal in order to save their marriage. Now reeling in the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Liv and Dean are driven further apart by a vindictive threat to Dean’s career.

Struggling to stand on her own for the first time in years, Liv is determined to defend her husband and prove herself. Then an unexpected letter dredges up old insecurities and endangers Liv’s newfound independence. As Dean fights for his professional life, he is forced to confront his worst fear when he discovers that he can’t protect his beloved wife from her own painful past.(

My review:

“I’m at your feet forever, Olivia Rose,” I whispered the instant before our lips met. “I’ll move heaven and earth to give you whatever you want, whatever you need.”

Awaken is the breathtakingly beautiful ending to The Spiral of Bliss Series. Whatever I’ll say won’t do this third installment justice.

It’s amazing how much Nina Lane was able to make me fall in love with this story and its characters. From Arouse to Allure and finally Awaken, we follow one of the best love stories ever written. I’ll never forget Liv and Dean’s passionate and all consuming love, and I’ll never forget all the emotions I felt while reading. With Awaken I found myself reading very slowly, because I wanted to savor every page, every passage. I wish it was made of one thousand pages, because I never wanted it to end, and when I actually reached the last page, I wanted to start it all over again.

Elena Reviews: Arouse (Spiral of Bliss #1) by Nina Lane

Arouse Cover

The synopsis:

“One day I’m going to touch you in a thousand different ways and show you how to touch me,” he said.

And he did.

Struggling with a tormented past, undergraduate Olivia Winter once led a practical but isolated life. Then she met Professor Dean West, a brilliant scholar of medieval history who melted Liv’s inhibitions and taught her the meaning of both love and erotic pleasure.

But after three years of a blissful, lusty marriage, Liv and Dean now face a crisis that threatens everything they believe about each other as dark secrets and temptations rise to the surface.

My review:

“Liv,” he said, his voice rough with tenderness, “you don’t have to be afraid.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’ll slay monsters for you.”

Can a heart beat so fast when you read a book? Yes, it can when you read Arouse by Nina Lane. This book was recommended to me by my friend Lena, and I’m so, so grateful to her that she did. I’ll be honest and say that I hadn’t heard much about this book, so when Lena described it to me, it sounded promising and I decided to give it a try. But I didn’t expect I’d become so obsessed with this book. Twenty pages in and I was completely (and I mean completely) enraptured by the story and the characters. Yes, people. This novel is so good, it deserves to be read several times. I absolutely love it!
