Fan Fiction Friday: Edward from all periods…

So this week, we’re doing period fics! I love ‘em.  And there are SO MANY. Lucky, lucky us.   Of course, when there’s an Age of Edward contest, I do a happy dance. It’s not pretty, but it makes me happy and burns calories.

Yeah, that’s Michelle. LOL It’s us this week on Fan Fic Friday!! And you read that right. We are going to share some Edwards that stand the test of time…

Fan Fiction Friday: We’re Going Dark

LOL! I just realized that the title of this post sounds like we’re turning the lights out on the blog. That’s so not true, BUT you might want to turn on all of the lights in your house while reading some of these stories…*cue scary music*

Debb and I finally decided to do a post together to discuss some our favorite darker AU stories. We both love reading about vampires, especially the scary ones that focus on their true nature. Not sure what we were waiting for, but better late than never, right. 🙂

[Note from Debb: In the spirit of not spoiling we aren’t going to talk HEA/non-HEA. Read ’em at your own risk. If you dare…. mwuahahahahaha]

Hold on to your hats peeps, we have 5 stories to share. Whoa… That’s three completed ones and two WIPs. So let’s get to it, shall we…

Fan Fiction Friday: Not What She Seems and Stay

So I’ve been in hell this week, because we are moving this weekend. Uggh. Boxes everywhere, and everything is a mess. I hate this part. I do like unpacking and finding a place for everything though, in some place in new. All of this unrest had me searching for stories I could find comfort in; I needed some familiarity. I went straight to authors that I love, because I knew they wouldn’t steer me wrong.

FanFic Friday with Katiebird: Author spotlight on Savage7289

Happy Friday again. We have a very special post today – our girl Katiebird is back with an author spotlight. Take it away Katie!

When Deb asked me to do another guest post, I already had something in mind to share with you guys. It seemed so simple; I love reading anything written by Savage7289, so why not dedicate a whole post to her work?!?! But which ones do I feature? I love them all.  Every Edward is different, and that’s a good thing.  She has 16 stories on her fan fic profile, plus some stories found on her personal blog, Shay Savage.

I’m going to feature five stories, in no particular order, except that I will leave my VERY favorite to the end. Can you stand it? Are you wondering? I know you are…

Fanfic Friday: Katiebird guest posts! ‘She Gives Me Religion’, ‘The Biology Project’ and ‘Win Some, Lose Some’

Happy Friday loveys. We have a special treat for you on this Easter weekend edition of Fanfic Friday. No, it’s not Robward in bunny ears and nothing else… *stares off into space for a minute* It’s a fantabulous guest post by Katiebird!!! *hands Katie the mic as I reach out to grab…. the bunny ears* Take it away, Katie!

I know I should just get right to the stories, but I kind of have to do this part first, so bear with me please.  🙂

So let me tell you about an amazing woman that I had the pleasure of meeting last year in NYC. Liz Lemon Bennett was standing behind me in the rain all night, sharing her chair and umbrella while we chatted about fan fiction, during the weekend of the Water For Elephants premiere. It was an epic weekend for my friends, and me because we met the author Sara Gruen, Deb, and tinkrbel1, a bunch of other fans, (really nice people actually, not as crazy as I thought [note from Deb: See? I’m not that crazy *eye twitch*]) PLUS a really famous gorgeous actor, who will not be named, because I’ll just get sidetracked. (I like to call it “acute fondness”, but some people may think it’s just a bit more) Seriously, he doesn’t actually “sparkle” per say, but he does have a glow about him. He’s just MORE. So very sweet and generous with his attention and time. It was surreal. *happy sigh*

Anyway, back to the matter at hand. Liz Lemon Bennet has written a fantastic AH story that started as a one shot for the Cherry Exchange last year, and it’s called She Gives Me Religion, that is very near completion. Just a few more chapters I think.

She Gives Me Religion by Liz Lemon Bennet

Hot-headed seminary student, Edward Masen meets just widowed bride Bella Swan. EPOV: AU/AH Started as O/S. Now expanded.

Lots more after the jump!

FANFIC Friday: Is it hot in here? We’re working up a sweat with Jockwards!

Happy Friday and welcome back. Today, Annie and I have two fics to share and a theme.

JOCKWARD!

I don’t know why saying ‘Jockward’ makes me giggle so much but it does. Jockstrap, Jock itch… Jockward. Yeah, that’s probably it. Seriously, an athletic Edward is a hot Edward; strong and buff and sweaty and probably all cocky and you see where I’m going with this I’m sure. 😉 First though, I wanted to apologize for not having a proper rec for you today. I’ve had a couple of very rough weeks and haven’t had the time or energy for very much reading. I’m glad this sports-themed post was planned because I’m going to trust in Savage and rec her Soccerward story without reading it. Forgive me?

Offside by Savage7289

Edward’s the star keeper for the Forks High School soccer team, and is already being scouted by leagues overseas.  Bella’s just moved from Phoenix and interferes with his…focus.  Soccerward lives! Rated M for the good stuff, of course.

Savage never disappoints and this is a complete story. 125 (!) chaps and over 30k reviews. I am so looking forward to reading this.

Annie’s Jockward choice after the jump!

Fan Fiction Friday: Poll Time! Work in Progress or Complete only? Plus, a Rockin’ rec

Happy Friday and welcome back to Bookish Temptations Fan Fic Friday.

Last post we talked about short, drabble type fics and how part of the appeal is in reading along as a group (twitter, facebook etc) as they update. This got me thinking about how we read fic… for instance, I tend to read a combination of works in progress and complete stories but I limit how many stories I’ll have on my ‘waiting to update’ list. Then there are those who jump into lots of different stories and have so many updates they sometimes feel like they can’t keep up. I also know some people (side eyes Tink) that insist on only reading complete. I suspect there are lots of people who follow this rule.

But how many? How many of you ONLY read completed fics?? Hmmm

POLL TIME! lol

I know there are arguments on both sides. On the one hand, reading a WIP is a great support for an author. Indeed, it can be very motivating for writers to hear from readers. How often have you seen as phrase like “You guys are the reason I write” in an author’s profile. So the feedback and encouragement they receive along the way is important. Plus, it’s fun to be along for the ride, chat about the fic on forums etc. On the other, fics get abandoned and the reader left hanging. Or they update so slowly that readers forget where the story left off. Or you just want to read a whole story – like you would a book. I get it.

It doesn’t have to either/or though.

The inspiration for this week’s post is my friend and fic aficionado, Tink. Like I said, she only reads completed fics. Well, last week FanFic Friday reader, Melissa, left a comment with a fic rec (Offside by Savage7289). That led me to check out Savage’s profile which led me to….

CAVEWARD!

Note: not the actual name of the fic 😉

The rec, more wip talk and a very special ‘fic to print’ announcement, after the jump!
